If there was 11000 at Cas today

Recommended Posts

My point, Paksider, was simple enough. Their crowds are much higher than they were at the Boulevard or Wilderspool. On that basis it seems lacking in ambition and nous to build something only big enough for existing crowds. And not even all of those.

The Giants crowds are indeed massively larger than they were getting at Fartown, if that was the point (it was v hard to tell).

Quantify much?

To a developer wanting to maximise profit it's probably a fair bit. If Cas can get more out of the developer (which I very much doubt) I'd prefer they got a them to kit out 10k staduim to a better standard. Rather that than a 12k basic stadium. Corporate income will be more important if Cas are to grow than housing a couple of hundred extra fans a couple of times a year.

That said, my only concerns regards the capicity are that it will limit the staduim use as a neutral ground which could lose some income.

Fair points, and I have no idea the extra cost, depends if extra standing or seating I guess.

Would agree that facilities are key.

Extra corporate is essential I agree. Then again that extra corporate should mean the club can invest more in specialist coaching and performance staff,  leading to improved overall performance maybe leading to more success. That success bringing in more fans maybe.

I have no doubts that Castleford know their maximum potential gate wise better than I. Just that I would have thought more success would make the games more attractive to home and for away fans.  Thus my comment on a clubs confidence in the growth of the sport.

Never-the-less as you say costs may be the factor that prevents them getting to any aspirational thoughts.

Surely they'll attract more in a better facility? I'm pretty sure they could get more than 10k against Wakey, Hull, Leeds and possibly Wigan and Bradford (if they ever make it back). Just seems like they'd miss out on a lot by setting it too low.

you have 10k...

people buy ST as its the only way to guarantee watching all the top games

Away fans buy tickets early to ensure they get one...

result: more ST sold=guarenteed upfront income more attending 'smaller' games

away support dont wait for 'weather forecast' and pre purchase before travel!

Aim for 10k every game rather than 11 at some 7-8 for others!

No doubt about it

assuming average £15 per game that 1000 at 8 games = £120,000

now if it was 2000 for those extra 8 games, it would be almost 1/4 million pounds. A full million over 4 years.

at some point prices may go up and then it would be more.

I assume Castleford know their maximum market potential, even if more successful as I assume they think they couldn't attract that extra 1000 or 2000 paying spectators.

Obviously I'm ignoring any extra costs, e.g. extra stewards and extra mtce, etc

An extra 2000 seats doesn't sound much but the infrastructure would also need added to. So more toilets probably, more capability to get everyone out in an emergency (which would impact on the outside also). Then there's match day policing, cleaning etc. It's a lot more than just putting more chairs in

Cas are not funding the building of this stadium. They do not have the money. The developers will build the bare minimum they can because they are more interested in the retail side of things as that's where they will make their money.

The choice for Cas is having a 10k capacity stadium built for them and given to them for nothing or to continue at The Jungle. There are no other options at the moment. I think all agree it's a bit small but Cas are not in a position to dictate terms.
