Glenn Morrison has confirmed new signing Mitch Stringer will make his Dewsbury debut in this weekend’s Heavy Woollen Derby.

Stringer joined the Rams after completing his release from Sheffield, who he played for over 300 times during a long spell with the South Yorkshire club.

The 32-year-old has signed a deal at the Tetley’s Stadium for the rest of the season, and will get his first experience in a Rams shirt when they face fierce rivals Batley, who are chasing a spot in the top four.

“We got Stringer signed on late Friday night. His paperwork wasn’t done in time for today but he’ll be ready for next week and hopefully we can get one back over Batley,” said Morrison.

“Mitch is very experienced and he will bring that to us. He’s captained Grand Final winning sides at this level and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Dewsbury’s 24-8 defeat to Halifax at the weekend leaves them in seventh place, nine points behind their local rivals.

Dont think stringer will make much difference tbh, think we should have alex rowe back in the side as i think he was missed on sunday to give that bit more bulldogs bite, i also think the boys will be up for the rams game after the dissapointment of our last outing....

27-14 to the dogs

Att 1,320

I know a few fev leeds cas also hudds fans that are coming hope the people of both clubs also turn up

Think you may well be right KTF. Never been to a Heavy Woollen derby, and, with us playing Friday just might get 2 games in this weekend.

A few weeks ago would have gone for a comfortable Dogs win - not so sure now. Still think a Dogs win but would be no surprise if a close one. Appreciate Northern are playing Fax, and London v Leigh, but, think this may well be game of the day.

Show's how bitter the bulls are rumours were we went in for JC to be told no he's going to Keighley

Thats a joke.

Keighley?

Well he'll certainly get plenty of tackling practice there.

Well to be fair, they are hardly likely to help out one of their closest rivals are they ? Now if the Rams come calling ....   ;)

Just realised Blake is injured, which is not good. He's had a cracking season for us this year.
