02 Jul: SL: Catalans Dragons v Wigan Warriors KO 6pm

To be fair for Richards it was a forced sad smile! Even when the Wigan fans were singing that he's superman he acknowledged it, but he looked gutted, don't think it was just the result he looked gutted about he looked dejected and that he knows he's done one year too many!

He needs to stop kicking. He should acknowlegde that he's putting the whole team down by his dreadful kicking and needs to step down.

We have other guys that can kick. Bosc and Albert, for example. Escaré can kick too but he's average at it (plus they don't want him to play). One funny thing is that Bousquet is a decent kicker too.

Nope.

The worst is not the "individual" performances. Richards has been dreadful all season long but yesterday was a new low as in he never wanted to play against Wigan.

Seeing him smile after the game was another nail in his coffin for Catalans fans.

The coaching is unbearable... what was the coach thinking putting Garcia and Duport just to avoid playing Escaré at FB.

Also, Carney needs a good lesson. Albert outplayed him. Had the same number of tackles and kicks, twice the meters and half his age.

But has said before, the individual aren't the worst. We played dumb. Play the ball, pass to the next guy, go to ground, play the ball, pass to the next guy and so on.

Aaaand something needs to be said. ###### how the ref allowed Tomkins to play him. Let's give rat boy a penalty when he's tackled, every time. [/quote

What is French for - thick, graceless and offensive?

Good 80 for Wigan with pretty strong performances throughout the 17. Despite the flak he has got on this forum ,Sam Tomkins is having an increasingly positive effect on this Wigan team. Apart from strong defence and consistent (if not overly flashy) support play in attack), it his leadership that is having greatest effect.

It may be a coincidence ,but our completion rates are going up as stupid mistakes are reducing ,albeit slowly.

It's confident leadership that this squad needs given the youth and character of the group. His brother has not really provided that lead role as was expected as he is often the worst when it comes to over the top aggressive defence. Lockers also tends to fall into this trap by trying to be too clever at the ruck and is getting penalised consistently.

The other key feature yesterday was the emphasis on footwork by both backs and forwards in trying to continually unsettle the big Catalans pack (and backs).

We were sat in front of a big Roosters fan over here on holiday and he was really impressed with Wigans organisation and strike.

He also felt the Roosters have not given Joe Burgess a reasonable chance and acknowledged the merit in the Wigan youth policy.

We just need to maintain intensity in every game and make returning players earn their right to play.

It's now all about wins and points on the board rather than stressing about points difference. No slip ups now in terms of results.

What Wigan have is a great youth policy and work ethic. That showed yesterday and was nothing to do with Sam Tomkins who didn't do a lot at all.

Lucky find that Roosters fan.

I have acknowledged the youth policy and work ethic. You missed my point . I am talking about his general growing influence on the squad not just on yesterday's performance. Although that said ...how many high balls did he miss?

He doesn't have to score a try to have a 'good game'

He's got another year I believe!
