Your clubs pre season injuries

Recommended Posts

Well, we know of some of the bigger names but how many of your first  XVII/XX players are not fit for the start of the new campaign? This is one of the major factors for clubs and how they go, Saints last year did rather well but flopped at season end, similarly Hull FC had hardly any injuries in 2016 but post CC win we were dire, that mostly was down to Radford not rotating players and taking 'advantage' of playing the same players week in, week out for the most part, an obvious mistake as they were done by the S8s, did the same thing afflict Saints?

 At Hull we already have 5, Albert Kelly is supposed to be out for 6-8 weeks with an AC (shoulder) problem.

Kelly, Green, Westerman, Bowden and Talanoa (not injured but having 'other' issues which are quite serious apparently), Sneyd may even miss the opener against KR.

Fairing pretty well at Warrington - have done for a couple of years now. Slightly concerned that may change now Jon Clarke has left...?

Ben Currie looks likely to miss the first few, Ben Murdoch-Masila is touch and go for the first game and Jack Johnson still recovering from his broken leg 12 months ago.

Daryl Clark seems to be back to fitness following his dislocated ribs playing for England. So pretty good all in all really.

Wakey are at full strength (touch wood) only had a couple of niggles

We will pick up injuries no doubt about that and some will be critical to our season but if we or any otheer team can start the season at full strength then you're already halfway to a good one imho.

That's the problem Cas and especially Hull now have, they are already behind the eight ball before the season has even started.

Luke Gale is a top player for them and he was starting  to pick up injuries even before this one, however to do so pre-season is brutal, you simply can't cover for one of your top players for a whole season. Even with the good youngsters Cas have it's too much to make up imho.

More than ever RL is a game of attrition and injuries play a massive part in any teams fortunes - people who say otherwise are fooling themselves.

Injuries are inevitable and Hull KR will definitely be missing player of the year Adam Quinlan, club capatin Shaun Lunt plus Lee Jewitt, Nick Scruton and Joe Wardill. New signing Kane Linnett extremely doubtful.

It's part & parcel but for Hull FC it's always a crisis for everyone else it's...get on with it.

Missing from Les Dracs' line up for their friendly on Friday against the XIII de President (of the FFR13, not M. Macron!) were

2 Jodie Broughton;

4 Brayden Williame;

9 Michael McIlorum;

10 Sam Moa; and

13 Greg Bird

I think Broughton is still working off an injury; not sure about the others.

Bit insecure aren't we? Sure there will be the odd few who can't see that the same thing happens to all clubs at some point or another but these are deluded idiots, pretty much all fans understand the score, so your dig is totally unjustified!

Part of the problem at FC is that the coach has continually failed to recognise that preventing injuries/fatigue means giving your academy players game time, that in itself is an important part of developing your local talent so you're not having to invest heavily from outside which is simply not sustainable. Sure sometimes injuries are just bad luck, but fatigue often leads to injuries, playing players with a niggle leads to a more serious problem (and in game performance drops as well).

Coaches who grasp this and balance the need to have senior players in the side as often as possible with giving the young blood a chance even if they don't perform to the same level so that you avoid both injury/furthering injury and fatigue will have a better rounded squad and cope better when injuries do strike.
