This week's club emblems feature a series of NRL-themed car air fresheners. For some reason they didn't make a Panthers one or maybe the Panthers one is sold out.

Late Mail: Dane Gagai will return from a cheekbone injury in the centres which pushes Enari Tuala out. Anthony Milford has been named at five-eighth for his NRL return against his former club the Broncos. It is a tough call on Tex Hoy, who impressed at five-eighth and could squeeze onto the bench at the expense of Phoenix Crossland. Jake Clifford has been named in the reserves and could be a late swap with Adam Clune at halfback. Tyson Frizell is a big in for the Knights with Mitch Barnett shifting to lock and Leo Thompson to the bench.

He will be replaced by Ezra Mam, who will make his NRL debut. Fullback Te Maire Martin is expected to overcome a hip flexor injury to take his place in the side. Payne Haas (shoulder) and Kurt Capewell (neck) are managing injuries, but with a long turnaround are expected to play.

Ezra Mam joins the Broncos in 2022 after a strong debut year for Affiliate Souths Logan Magpies, scoring 13 tries, 8 try assists and 7 goals in just 11 games. He comes fresh from winning the 2021 Intrust Super Cup Rookie of the Year Award, and the Souths Logan Magpies Pat Phelan Memorial Club Player of the Year. Mam has been in the Broncos’ pathways program since he was 13, and has earned his spot in next year’s 30-man squad.

Impressive first half from ex Huddersfied winger Dom Young with some strong runs. He’s a big lad who’s difficult to stop when in full flight.

Broncos looking good but wasting chances. Making breaks.…… hang on,

this time a break from their own half and the pass to Cobbo just reeled in by the youngster who escapes a defenders’ tackle and goes over for a super try.

Broncos are good to watch when playing this kind of footy.

Not Knights’ night.

5 seconds to go in the match. They have the scrum. Throw a wild hopeful ball out wide and Herbie Farnworth intercepts and races away to score a try  as the clock finally finds 80 minutes.

Broncos run over the Knights late on after a good tussle for much of that . A couple of contentious calls . Gagai disallowed what seemed a blatant try , I agree with Mick Ennis about looking for reasons to scratch out tries . And Cobbo given a try after what surely has been called obstruction all season . The Knights deflated after that . Positive that Milford was in and showed up well , which is good considering they have some of the worst halves ever in the NRL

Big win for the Broncos, when I heard that Adam Reynolds was out I thought "F*** my tips gone south of the border" but winning a game like this without your gun player is huge and a sign of progress. Broncos not a Top 4 side but Top 8 this year.

The Knights have a papier mache defence and that down to the coaching.

As for the Bunker official that denjied the Knights a first half try which would have put them 10-6 up. All I can say is Queenslandah !

I’d toyed with changing my tip to Knights in the ESPNFOOTYTIPS  league I’m in, run by R L Winger, when I heard Reynolds was out and Knights had some players back from injury plus Milford.

In the end I didn’t partly because I’d done similar in the past and mucked up. I’m glad I stuck with Broncos.

5min: try to Luke Garner. In normal time it looked like he dropped it but in slo-mo it looked fine.

Hastings kick goes near the field somewhere.

13min: Starford To-a try.

Madden takes over the kicking and nails it

Starford To'a try, converted by Madden - 10:0. Nice assist from Hastings.
