Hunslet....

No doubt Alan Kilshaw and their team will be up for our crucial and expected tough clash, especially after losing to us and beating Crusaders last out. He has recently added two experienced 20+ lads, slightly big at 15 and 17 stone and 6ft+.  All is in place for the top 6 position battles and we have the team and coaching to be in a top four spot.  Certainly, there are improvements to be made and hopefully a settled side.  Our final game against Keighley could be very interesting - certainly a potential for a huge gate at the Crown - but will that happen this season?

By saturday we will have had 1 game in the last 35 days, and that was away. what sort of fixture list is that. More evidence of how the RFL dont care about league 1.

They’d like us to just go away in my opinion.

Discipline will win the game this Saturday I think. Hornets need to get back to free flowing rugby and a settled side.

Discipline and Hornets unfortunately do not go together.

and another:

"......following the shoulder injury sustained by scrum-half Joe Sanderson in the early stages of last week’s outstanding victory over North Wales Crusaders, by snapping up Jake Sweeting from Dewsbury Rams.

The goalkicking halfback, who has joined the Parksiders on loan until the end of the season, is making a welcome return to the South Leeds Stadium, having enjoyed a successful spell – also on loan – last year.

And he is not only renewing acquaintance with former Hunslet team-mates; he will also be lining up with centre Jacob Doyle and forward Joe Summers, who he played alongside in Featherstone Rovers’ AB Sundecks 1895 Final triumph at Wembley last year."

Their wins have come against cornwall, london, midlands, west wales, and north wales. Obviously the last one was impressive, but they dont seem to like playing ‘heartlands’ teams.

But they have been playing regularly, unlike us, coming off what seems to have been a second (or third) pre season.

That’s the problem - we never have a run of home-away-home- away games. We either don’t play or we’re away all the time. We never have a chance to get going.

Chopping and changing the team to accommodate short-term loans and players that aren't as good as the ones they replace doesn't help either. Get Tom Ashton and Dan Nixon back in the 13. They both carry more of a threat than their replacements.

Last time I asked Tom Ashton had injured his ankle. I don’t know about Dan Nixon.

Absolutely correct, someone told me Ashton has gone.?

Not a bad place to play your rugby, but he should be collecting his road miles and no doubt he will get a 'welcome' in Rochdale in August....yet he says:  "Things weren't right for me this season so this move to Cornwall is a bit of a no-brainer for me...". (?)

Look forward to seeing Hornets' team for Saturday.

Its strange we won 6 on the trot with Ashton and Nixon in the side, Ashton got a hat trick in the London game and looked the strong centre we were lacking.

Yes, it had taken him a while but he was finally looking the part. I believe he’s re-located down there.

When Hornets played the Midland’s  Hurricanes at home Ashton’s defence was poor and he didn’t look fit enough. Ball in hand can’t fault him.

To be fair there are a number of our players who cant defend and that has been our Achilles Heel so far this season, let's hope things change

A pity that we conceded that try on ht to make it 16-6.   On Twitter we seemed to be in control and attacking just prior to their score.

A tough half to come....keep up the good work Hornets.

Final 32-24 win......2 tries in last 5mins to Hunslet, following a stupid yellow card against Brierley!

Some of our players are penalties on legs.
