The future will very much mirror the men’s game IMO with a professional women’s league in Australia meaning they will dominate for decades to come.

Well with 4 new teams coming in next year there are plenty of opportunities for women from other countries to give it a shot in the Sunburnt Country

Brianna Clark has been the best of the Kiwis today for me.  She doesn't deserve to be 38-0 behind.

Try for the Ferns, and the crowd comes alive.

Absolutely but also playing in the same side and developing understanding. They didn’t look connected as a side.

The most recent article I found suggests that the Warriors won't return to the WNRL 'til 2025 at the earliest. They could be well off the pace by then.

Raecene McGregor down and looking in a lot of pain. Just what the Ferns didn't need.

Just looking at the team stats on NRL.COM.

As would imagine, Australia dominating pretty much all of them, particularly run metres, post contact metres and set distance.

But the one that really stands out is kick return metres which is 209 to 33 to Australia.

Just shows the discipline and effort of the Aussie defence and kick chase, particularly when you have the likes of Apii Nicholls collecting the ball for the Kiwis who has been excellent all tournament.

I don't know all of them but at least 7 of this NZ team played in the WNRL this year. Kiwis don't need the Warriors for individuals to play in WNRL.

But a NZ-dominated Warriors squad would significantly grow the NZ talent pool at the highest level and also provide a pathway for those players who, for whatever reason, can't relocate to Australia.

Kennedy Cherrington isn't big at all but she doesn't half run hard.

You can say that again. No, really, you can - she's just scored another almost immediately.

I know Pelite's monstered everyone in the tournament, but that was loose tackling. I think some of the Ferns were expecting a whistle.

There are ways around that. The first NRLW season was only 4 teams because they wanted to compress all the Kiwi Test and OZ Test and Origin players into 4 teams to keep the standard as high as possible. NZRL could have a short end-of-season season where all the players are concentrated into 4 teams.

In that first NRLW season the 10-team Sydney/NSW comp was effectively condensed into 2 Sydney NRLW teams. Plus there was also a Qld league and both of these State leagues played their seasons before the NRLW season started. Players had the chance to play themselves into a NRL squad.

Hufaga from superstar to anonymous in 6 days.

She has very little RL experience. I reckon a WNRL team will pick her up and do some work to build skills on top of her natural talent.

True but that’s also the same for the men’s game but Australia continues to dominate that too.

Hufaga and Hall are superb in tough physical games but the Australians are just too fast and too clinical, they have had them chasing their shadows.

Not a close game but the Jillaroos are a pleasure to watch. Congratulations to them.

Ali Brigginshaw gets Player of the Match, just like she did in the last World Cup Final. And just as deserved this time around.

It's a far bigger sport in Australia than anywhere else. Tough to do much about that.

But we keep trying !

I don’t disagree Leonard, I was just saying that the Jillaroos will dominate the women’s game certainly in the way the Kangaroos did in the 1970s to the 1990s IMO.

Yes - and fair play to them.

But, to me at least, smacks a bit of Ireland getting excited about winning a hurling or Gaelic football world cup.

However, it's up to other countries to play the women's game and to challenge them. But that could be decades away outside of England and NZ.
