Callum Watkins makes it a tad more respectable,

Reds 14 Hudds 26.

Kick good,

16-26, full tarm.

Over thirty years since they last appeared on the big screen together, Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins have been offered starring roles in a film based on events at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 12th August 2023. It is hoped that "Silenced by the Lams" will be a box office success.

Thanks for the updates folks.

I received no updates when I was at the Bonus Arena yesterday, watching Shaun Murphy v Mark Selby, while Hull FC were at Wire.

And for that, I'd like to thank people far too numerous to mention.

Although Just Browny did send me a "You haven't come over to watch this have you?" enquiry...

Did either of them manage a bigger break than Wire?

Excellent performance, one of the best  at the AJ Bell.

Some people say we 'outsalforded Salford", we easily won the forward battle, we moved the ball about, shifted wide early out Connor and Russell completely outplayed their opponents.

Connor's kicking game was sublime at times, he attracted 2 defenders every time he had hands on the ball enabling Naiqama to wreak havoc down the Salford right.

Brilliant performance, everyone of them was 8/10 but we need to back it up by beating Leeds next week.

Our discipline was terrible as it has been all season and has once again cost us so much field position and additional tackling to do.

I've now watched us lose 4 matches and all the 4 teams we've lost to I've though we could beat.

Hopefully as the season progresses Rowley can get this plenty count down as currently we are bottom of the table for conceding them and it's absolutely killing us.

That deeply enjoyable and satisfying 28-0 win last year seems a long time ago. But to be fair with half that team gone or injured and their replacements trying but expiring, it was quite an achievement to remain competitive for so long yesterday.

But to be equally frank, this was one of the dullest games I have experienced. The Giants didn't just smoother the Reds, they swallowed them completely. Played percentage rugby, completed their sets and such good discipline was all was needed against the hapless Reds. .

Fair dos and all, but when the kids become more interested in the passing planes and I am daydreaming about being sat in the beer garden in a Peak district pub, you know this is not edible.

So as unpalatable Wattoism is, it works and it seems this broken winged version of SRD hasn't much idea to deal with the over coached defensive wedge, especially whilst the Reds' have less a lion pack and more a pussycat clutter and they are prone to defensive brain farts.

SRD were in the same place last spring, senior players came back, Warkins went to 2nd row. And it came together. No reason for it to happen again.

So the target remains ten wins. So it's 7/20 now. Next two are Leigh and Cas, which have be targeted.

Not one to remember and sorry John even the best of us can't extend this thread. Moved on.

Spring is coming, the hawthorns are in bloom. Keep smiling. 😄

Seems like the Rowleyball burst.....or we bored Salford into not playing their usual game....or the ref was on our side...

Anyway Watson 1-0 Salty red devils ( look on twitter you'll know what i mean).

You must have watched a different game to me, I thought it was a really good contest, both teams muscled up well, and threw the ball about a bit and tried to mix it up, there was some brilliant attacking moves ( especially for 3 of the Huddersfield tries and the final Salford try).

The stats don't suggest Huddersfield were boring or smothering either, 15 offloads to Salford's 6, 5 clean breaks , 10 attacking kicks to 4, although Salford had more tackle busts with 41 to 38.

Both teams missed a few tackles and only 18 handling errors by both teams suggest it was a tight contest with the Giants' "boring" attack being the difference.

Salford are a dangerous side, even with a few of their forwards not available but to suggest Huddersfield didn't play any exciting open rugby is churlish, if Huddersfield were boring then so were the much lauded Red Devils as the stats are fairly even.

A man who can use the word churlish correctly deserves credit (and one of them likes).

Nah it's a matter of taste. I guess I have been "over indulged" in manic free flowing Rowleyball in comparison with well manicured hard drilled Watsonian style rugby.

Frankly given the now regular second half turn backs, ill discipline and shoddy defending, SRD might do well if not better with a bit of tightly tailored control rugby.

Adrian may have a point about boring as well as has the recently retired Monsignor. s://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/mar/22/secret-of-happiness-embrace-boring-mundane-repetition

I once went to a mass on a Monday night in a massive church on the Bury New Road in Manchester. There were but six of us in attendance, plus the priest who gave a short but brilliant sermon. Afterwards, modestly fielding my compliments, he told me he had been ordained almost exactly 40 years to the day. “I treat every mass as if it is my first or my last,” he said. Yes, I thought, that’s the secret. On the bus home, for some reason Mick Jagger came to mind. I’m not a massive Stones fan but I thought of how many thousand times he’d performed Satisfaction or Sympathy for the Devil. And each time, he does it as though it’s the first or last time.

Who do they think they are, Salford?

I know, imagine playing expansive rugby, moving from left to right with quick, precise passing ,on the last tackle and with pace and a sublime offload and line run to completely destroy the opposition when we are supposed to be boring, predictable and sleepwalk over opponents 😁

Only seen highlights.

Salford looked pretty busted & fatigued.. First Giants try came from a dreadful mess t& next wo were through mile wide gaps that shouldn't have been there. Last try was decent.

Of the two coaches, Rowley will surely be happier because they didn't get toen apart, which they probably should have been.

Rowley will be happier cos his team lost and with a lot of errors and indiscipline?

You do realise Huddersfield had players missing too? Fages, Greenwood, Mcgilvary, Jones, Wilson, O'Brien.

So every coach should be happy as long as they don't get torn apart every week?

Giants got 6 pounts of a dreadful error & won by 10.

So, yes given the distinct lack of relative  squad depth & players out of position, Rowley will be happy it wasn't a dispiriting hammering.

Good to see a larger than usual number of Giants fans gathered.

Here's a small example of Huddersfield's smothering and boring rugby 😁

Come along now. If Salford fans put clips up every time they scored a try like that, the world would need a second internet to store them all. Fans of Saints, Castleford, Catalans, Huddersfield (of course) and others all got to enjoy them last season, and, of course, Hull fans were thoroughly entertained by Tim Lafai's first try against them a few weeks ago.

Ok then, they had a decent team out so i doubt he would have been happy, i'd be a bit annoyed if my coach was happy with losing but not getting hammered, personally it sounds like excuses that Salford's much lauded free flowing rugby was thwarted and negated by a very good Huddersfield performance on the day - Salford were simply 'out-processed' by their ex-coach.

It was way down on last year when we took 1,200 to Salford so a bit disappointing there.

Still some sour grapes from Salford fans I see all across the board and unable to give Giants any credit whatsoever.

Compare that with the words posted by Giants fans about Salford the last 2 times they've beaten us.

Ah well, I guess we didn't deserve the win as Salford only had "half a team", Giants scored "6 points from a Salford error" etc etc.

We get criticised for being labelled as boring but when a video is posted showing that we scored points by playing expansive open attacking rugby, something which Salford have (rightly) been lauded for but that gets criticised too.

At least they can't have a gripe about our support this time.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Mind those grapes and chips Salford fans 🙂

But Salford aren't accused of being boring, predictable, smothering and dull etc.

That's why I posted it to show that we can do what Salford do, to show that we certainly weren't boring and smothering on Sunday.

Enjoy rest of your season.
