Yet here in the heartlands of rugby league the game is flourishing, with lots of sensible financial decisions being made.

That's a completely different thing. I'm sure the current owners of the Wolfpack really know what they are doing and have the clubs best interests at heart. Their track record doesn't suggest that but maybe I am completely wrong about them.

Have some of the people in RL over here had the best interest of their clubs at heart? By overspending to achieve success? By selling their assets to do it?

"I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

What exactly has that got to do with what I said? It's completely irrelevant. I followed the Wolfpack from when they entered into league 1. I have half a wardrobe full of wolfpack gear. That doesn't mean I will blindly follow the chancers that are currently running the club. You carry on though.

It's not what I said either. There are different ways to approach managing sports clubs, and the North American way is to give it as big a go as possible - go big or go home. You may not like this, but it's pretty normal over there. Over here it's very emotional  - "we can't let club XXX fold because they're 100 years old, let's have a bucket collection". It seems the two cultures really struggle to coexist. Australia is somewhere between but has the advantage of a big supporter and player base, but they are pretty hard nosed.

I appreciate it’s a polarising subject, but I still think the SL clubs’ decision to get rid of Toronto is the biggest own goal in rugby league history, against some seriously stiff opposition.

Toronto went bust. They left SL.

Not allowing a deodorant guy in the year later was a different decision, and I see nothing that suggests that was a bad decision.

What has this got to do with the current chancers who run the Wolfpack?

Not giving them any of the TV money assisted that, a SL decision. They blatantly never wanted them in from the off, you know that.

Meh, it was a billionaire- we shouldn't be embarrassed about them having to fund the venture. We certainly don't have the money to set a team up in Canada.

They sounded more optimistic to me than an end of the road release

It reeks of kicking the can down the road to me. Their preparations for 2024 post last year sounded just as optimistic.

Toronto were attracting more media and general public attention than the whole of the rest of English RL, it was great for the game and would have been for TV viewing figures too.

Also how wealthy teams owners are is irrelevant, or do you also think TV money should be distributed depending on the wealth of owners?

TWP was all very exciting, but it wasn't a good investment for the RFL.

The only way it worked was for it to be funded. And it was, until the owner decided he'd spent enough.

There were many red flags, but as long as somebody pays, it's all good.

So are they planning to rejoin the UK league structure in 2025 or where will they be playing?

It must be against other North American teams, massive distances to travel nonetheless.
