The highest ever aggregate score

I'm confused (which admittedly doesn't take much)...

27 x 4 = 108

18 x 2 = 36

108 + 36 = 144

No...?

Yes but no but  27 x 3 + 18 x 2 is only 117.

Johnny Rogers kicked one of the goals, as noted above.

That's how I see it.  Again, assuming no drop goals which would be one point in new money.

You could also score goals from a mark and field goals in those days, neither of which would have got you anything after 1922, so we're making some big assumptions here.

For the avoidance of any doubt, the Huddersfield-Swinton Park score was 119-2. This is now corrected on the RKC website - apologies for the error here, and thanks to those that raised it on here. Whilst every league score on the website has been validated, there could be the odd typo on cup matches, which are a little bit harder to validate en masse.

Huddersfield scored 27 three-point tries & 19 two-point goals.

2001 was a vintage year for these kind of scores (hammerings but not nillings) for York. We lost...

90-6 Widnes (A)

12-84 Leigh (H)

78-8 Chorley (A)

6-70 Oldham (H)

82-4 Doncaster (A)

92-2 Fev (A)

11-66 Widnes (H)

84-1 Leigh (A)

There were a few nillings too... 😅

Leigh 44-40 v Huddersfield in the middle 8’s in 2016, is an example of an away side scoring 40 points and still losing, although it was 44-18 at one stage!!

Leeds RHINOS 52 - 46 Huddersfield GIANTS

IIRC this game showed that lots of points isn't always entertaining.
