No he won’t.

Club man at best.

I agree with Dunbar, I reckon he will be a force.

To me, what sounds like your distaste for RU, is having unfair prejudice on your assessment of Mark Waqa’s potential.

He played RL as a kid mind you and if I look at the most recent “convert” Suaali, he has been pretty bloody good and it will be a shame to see him wasting those talents in a team like the Wallabies.

When it comes to top level sport, talent only gets you about 60% of the way in most instances I reckon. The guy is 22yo and has played in the three quarters for the Australian RU team. What this demonstrates to me is that he:

- played RU in an easy to transition position

- demonstrated a mindset and commitment throughout his teenage years and early twenties which took him all the way to the Wallabies at a young age

- is still in his formative years to polish out those differences from the other code

For those reasons, I think he is more likely to be one of the NRLs top wingers than not.

I do not have the NRL on a Pedestal.

In fact I find it hard to watch with the Bunker debacles and strange decisions.

I just choose not to watch it as much as I cannot change how it is.

In your case you revel in criticising the NRL.

Maybe you should not watch it as it works you up into a confused rage that cannot be healthy for you.

Have a great day.

Maybe should wind it in telling people what they should and shouldn't do.

It's pathetic how upset you get simply because I don't like the way the NRL is currently going. I've watched it for 40+ years, my uncle used to get a magazine that came with a vide cassette (open rugby I think) with highlights and full games from down under and I loved it. I have enjoyed it for decades, I watch now hoping it goes back to being a fair contest between attack and defence, but it very rarely is.

So if it's OK with you I'll keep watching, as I'm sure I'm allowed to, and also allowed to opine on it.

This seems to really upset you so probably best you ignore my posts, it seems to be ruining your forumming.

Same here.

From the mid 80's I have loved Aussie Rugby League (as well as our game over here).  The Big League magazine, the Micron videos we got every week with the highlights from the last week's games.  Then live broadcasts and now WatchNRL where you can count the number of games I have missed from the NRL in the last 4 or 5 seasons on two hands.

The game has always been skilfull and fast but it was tough and attritional as well.  The balance has been lost a little.  Maybe it is inevitable, but even small things like enforcing a proper play the ball rather than allowing the roll ball will help to address the balance.

That was it, the big league. Used to look forward to it every issue, sit with my uncle and watch it.

I've still got some in my mams loft, I know one for definite that was some sort of pre season thing played in 4 1/4's (I think).

The Panasonic Cup was played over 4 quarters before they binned it.

I thought he had a good game

Scored a great try on debut.

he’s of similar build to storms Xavier Coates and will warbrick and apparently played a lot of youth RL so it’s not all totally alien to him.

It was mentioned, nothing more.

He will likely struggle to make first grade, NRL players are fitter, faster and more skilled than most Union players.

He’s a former junior RL player and standout union player at both domestic and international level.

I think he’ll go well.

There hasn’t really been any post 95’ but those that did were usually top draw like ridge, timu, innes, tuigamala and botica etc.

Some great averages but Cronulla really need to get their stadium sorted. Think all those sub 15k clubs need to be upping their game now:

Is anything planned for the near future?

looking at aerial photos of shark park I can’t see much room for any major developments so any upgrades you’d have to assume would be minimal in terms of increased capacity

The leagues club at Cronulla has been pushed back to at least end of 2025 before it will be handed over from the developer to the club. There are no assurances this date will be met either.

Then, there is an 12 month $8m fit out to be completed after handover. Then and only then, the CEO says capacity can get back to 18k.

We won’t see Shark Park getting any bigger crowds until 2027 is my conservative estimate.

The sharks should be forced to play the majority of their home home games away from shark park until their capacity is sufficient.

Canberra are the biggest disappointment here as a one-club city of a similar size to Newcastle. I guess the rubbish stadium doesn’t help?

Isn’t the Canberra stadium in a poor location as well?

Yes, it’s in a soulless area that is a struggle to get to without a car. But that’s Canberra for you.

Nothing AFAIK, besides a patchy bus service.
