Not sure about Noah High but Jake Carter is not long back from Oz so not sure how much of a pre season he's had, same goes for Will Evans.

Surely giving them minutes instead of the trialists would be more beneficial then? Same goes for Stevie, Callum etc.

Travelling back to Daventry after taking in today's game.

Nice to meet so old friends.

Jam just about deserved it.

One think I can say " it was bloody freezing "

Daventry! Wow. I thought coming from Jendal was far. I agree though about being freezing

Maybe, but not sure if the trialists can play in the cup game, I would expect the other lads will be getting some game time

Agree with what all saying. Zarrin be good when dry ground bags of pace and is linking into line like last year. I brought couple of neutrals fans today, they both said, we got not bad team but we don't have size in forwards. Look at brennan gets steam up take stopping. We move on to portsmouth, then hopefully we get a big game n crowd against leigh. Utt

Firstly well done whitehaven, I had zero idea who most of their players were or how good they would be. But today they were the better side, no excuses.

As for us, I was really disappointed in the way we tried to play the game. Made way too many errors both attacking & defending, thought our forwards were poor, and our wide we were worse. I was amazed how poor we were ball in hand for the majority of the game. We got pinned in our own half for a lot of the first half.  Set completion,  last tackle options, and the pattern of play seemed all over the shop. But the big issue seemed to be the lack of yards from our forwards to set anything up or get a roll on. Jontys teams have always played quickly from the play the ball but you need the forwards to do their bit.

I thought Zarrin put a shift in, Caine had a go, Wear was decent in patches,  and Farrer defended well apart from the Brennan barge over ( we all knew he was gonna take that ball in!) Other than that I thought the whole team played poorly.

I'm really looking forward to the morning 😫🤣

The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

That to me was typical Workington Town. Great buzz around the club with signings in pre season and off the field as well. We then do what we do best and dish up an awful performance when the focus is on them.

Yep, we never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Thought Cain and Jake were Towns best players

Agreed and Doran showed just how good he is when in play maker role. Thought Galea did OK considering Havens line following their kicks was excellent

At the end of the day it was a friendly.

(No such thing in a derby) But look at us last year, we won it then had a pants season.

The time to wrong rights is over the next 2 weeks with a few CC games hopefully for the squad to show who wants those 18 places.

Taking nothing away from Whitehaven who I thought played the conditions and the occasion well, but we beat ourselves yesterday with poor discipline giving them piggy backs up the field and making countless errors, our set completion was extremely low and we just couldn’t get the field position to cause them problems, it was one of those days!

The big positive is that it’s another 80 minutes under our belt for this new squad, a team that is still getting to grips with playing together, we have a handful of key players to also come into this team. When you throw in the likes of J.Carter, Callum, Will Evans, Ross Ainley, Noah High, Dave Eccleston and potentially another few signings?? I think we are in for a very good season and will look back on yesterday and see it’s not the end of the world, it might even spur us on that bit more!
