AndyD Posted January 19 Posted January 19 That to me was typical Workington Town. Great buzz around the club with signings in pre season and off the field as well. We then do what we do best and dish up an awful performance when the focus is on them. Credit to Haven wanted it more from the off and deserved the win. Not overreacting but that squad we had out today should be beating that team Haven had out. 3
wiganlad Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Agree opportunity missed to build on all of the positives over the last couple of months. People will talk about who’s missing but as you say should of had enough to beat a side with a lot of players making the step up from the community game 2
anok4u Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Well played haven, town not so much. Weir looked class Bradley played well. Nowt much else, very disappointing. 2 go **** yasell ya little **** gain NL1 then take ya **** out ya dads **** then speak proper rugby talk. you jameating little spotty ****...itchy waa waa 2008...
Workington74 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Typical Town, build up some excitement pre season and then put in a performance like that against our biggest rivals, it won't help to bring the crowds back. 1
wonky Posted January 19 Posted January 19 One team is wanted it, another showed up thinking they would be stroll in and steam roll them. Maybe take some of the ego back and put the effort in 1st. Dom was outstanding but never had much backup, Cole struggled big time in all 3 positions he was used in. It was a chance for zarrin to show jonty was right in choosing him over Jordan at fb and he was out played in all aspects. Jack at prop didn't work, Ellis at loose didn't work, Hutton was the only one out the back 5 that looked like he wanted it. Jamie was good for the last 15 and the only one really trying something. Dreadful discipline and handling errors crippled us. 1 1 the futures bright, the futures blue and white
DavidM Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I’ve lost count of the number of times we play them and people say they want it more than us . I don’t know why , it certainly shouldn’t be the case . 3

I do not think it will affect the crowds coming back, This was a cup game representing Ike Southward so I think most of towns fans will know that, When it comes to the league the crowds will come back to cheer their team on. I was not to happy to hear the score but congratulations to Whitehaven on their win, the Town team will not be happy with result but rest assured that it will be a different game come the league.. UTT 2
townie88 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Have we any more friendlies? Still a few in the squad who will be going into a season with 0 minutes under their belt. If the poor performance gives us anything, it's an added bit of spice for the league campaign
anok4u Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I seen brennan coming back on the field and thought cak it's made for him this. Shouldn't have let him go. The guys a beast. 2 go **** yasell ya little **** gain NL1 then take ya **** out ya dads **** then speak proper rugby talk. you jameating little spotty ****...itchy waa waa 2008...

No offence to Dom but must have watched a diffrent game to me I thought he was shocking in the first half getting knocked of tackles and kicking the ball out on the full he did put the odd nice pass in but personally thought him and walker taylor were poor. Thought Cain and Jake were Towns best players
THMS Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Well what a waste of 30 quid ! Watching a team who didn't look fussed either way if they won. They lack any creativity but then what's new on that front. Well done to Whitehaven. Clearly wanted the win. Wish we still had Brennan and Burns. 1

Every team will be aware of Brennan, give the ball 5 yards out and it will result in many trys from him. I agree with you that we should have kept him, a big human being indeed but for his size he still has a bit go in him... 3

Everyone at the club supporters would have loved if we kept Brennan& Burns, but i think THMS we will see a different town side to the one we have seen today. Take Taylor from the halves and replace him with Jake Carter, If we sign Maize we will see a try scorer, I still Galia(zarrin) will be ok at full back, if not, put him back into the centres. In the front row I belive Ainly(sorry if I have spelt his name wrong) is going to be operated on, but have heard we have 2 front rowers to come(hearsay?) in so I would not be to critical of the lads that had to fill their spaces today. The league is a different proposition to the Ike game and where myself was expecting a good win, Well done Haven on your win today. 3

Hate the rec Posted January 19 Posted January 19 First of all well done Haven their young lads won't be the push overs a lot where predicting, the first 20 mins was all haven, I don't think we entered their 25 , we constantly coughed up possession in good areas and didn't stretch them enough, they defended with passion and will only get better, for us Zarrin took to much dall in for me, he's not a prop and needs to come into the line with speed, Jake played well and when cooper gets into his stride he will cause some damage, Caine as well, mystery why Callum wasn't given a run out and Stevie as well, I don't think they were to happy being left out, we have numbers to come in but as people say this was an Ideal match to get fans excited and unfortunately it didn't materialize. Just disappointing when they build themselves and the team up and then turn up like that. If there outplayed fair enough, out enthused, no excuses the futures bright, the futures blue and white

I Think in the league it might be different circumstance to the match we watched today, looking forward to seeing Carter in the team and him alone will make a big difference, but it will a changed team from what we have watched today...
