Ray Harryhausen, stop-motion animation master, aged 92

I used to love Sinbad, Clash of the Titans and Jason and the Argonauts when I was a kid. The skeleton fight from Jason and the Argonauts was brilliantly done and quite scary to the 8 year old me. RIP

Even with motion capture, blue screen, CGI etc. the skeleton fight would be impressive. Ray's version is astonishingly accomplished, considering the technology he had to use.

my cousin John Westwood aged 56

John was a very unusual man 'self made' only touches the surface-he built a street in fev and named it after himself, he had a passion for cycling and restoring 1950s American cars. His funeral will consist of his body being carried in a 1950s cadillac heading a cavalcade of cyclists from his bike riding club.

RIP

How moving is that. 56 is too, too young. What a great send off, though.
