  1. Father Ted, Blackadder, Dad's Army, Porridge, Alan Partridge, Bottom, Til Death Do Us Part, Steptoe, Fawlty Towers. Probably some others. From across the pond M*A*S*H, It's Always Sunny in Phildalphia, Frasier, What we do in the Shadows, Schitt's Creek. Currently I think "Alma's Not Normal" is the best sitcom on the box.Siobhan Finneran and Lorraine Ashburne are brilliant in it.
  2. On almost any topic, to be fair. These forums would provide ample evidence of that.
  3. Haigh Woodland parkrun in Wigan is a beast. 2.5K down followed by 2.5K up. It was nice to go to a parkrun where 3 of the 4 conversations I overheard involved Rugby League and the Run Director was wearing a Wigan top.
  4. Without having Sky/TNT/Amazon, it's hard to watch and follow any sport really. Match of the Day (and Women's games), cricket highlights (and the Horrible Hundred), Wimbledon and bits of the other slams for tennis are slim pickings. No wonder people use dodgy streaming on firesticks. I've gone with cricket but Derbyshire are properly testing my patience with it after this season's horrible performances. The netflix series Quarterback and Receiver were very good and made me a bit more interested in American Football again but then I watched a match on TV and remembered how dull it was as a TV sport.
  5. It was almost two weeks and he may have thought , or been told, he'd been cleared. I'm sure he would have been asked as part of the investigation.
  6. That's the daftest take I've seen on this. The fine would have to be astronomical and bankrupt the club for them to fail to start next season. They'll definitely find a coach - just look at the player roster that are signed up for next season. The season after will be the harder one. I'm pretty sure that any appeal will fail, so the club needs to crack on with finding a coach ASAP.
  7. The doctor probably didn't fancy being struck off if Matty had collapsed during the match.
  8. I did a lot of volunteering in the early years, including Run Director 22 times. Now I mainly volunteer at junior parkrun. I do need to volunteer again soon, though.
  9. Vinicius Jr is pretty special. We won't see him in the Premier League, which is a shame, as he seems to be happy to stay in Spain despite being racially abused on a regular basis.
  10. The last two Saturdays have seen me visiting Windy Nook parkrun near (maybe in?) Gateshead and Withernsea Prom near 'ull. (1,2,3,Gerr!) Windy Nook is a very hilly trail run with steps (3 laps, aaarrrggggghh!) and I didn'tt feel great even on the downhills! Still, it was a fantastic small community parkrun (around 50 were there but it's sometimes fewer) where quite a few of us went back to the Community Centre for free coffee and cake. WIthernsea Prom was similar in feel - it was raining but it was a great event (about 100 runners). Flat out and back, three laps. Ran much better and will go back when the weather's nicer. 388 parkruns at 141 locations. Should reach 400 in January and 150 locations shortly afterwards, health permitting.
  11. My only experience with this was years ago. I was sent a letter by a parking company saying I had stopped illegally on the road into Luton Airport. At that point I had never been to Luton Airport and I, and the car, had been in work that day and were on CCTV. At that time you were advised not to engage at all as they would use anything you said against you. The threats piled up from their tame solicitor but, as with many cases, they knew they'd lose in court and it would cost them way more than the charge. So they forgot about it. It didn't matter because 90% of people just paid up anyway. They realised after a while that more and more people were ignoring them so they did finally take up and win a case and then used it as a precedent. This made ignoring more difficult. The government also changed the law to make it easier for them to pursue cases and allowed them to set up their own "appeals process". Guess what? The appeals process almost never finds in favour of the driver, whatever evidence is provided. So we end up with situtations like Phil's, where they basically make life difficult for anyone to defend themselves even when they have no case. I despise all the private parking companies.
  12. Prostate cancer can go $£$% itself. This may inspire me to go and raise more money for Prostate Cancer UK.
  13. Well done to Sheffield Eagles, who won the Championship final in Golden Point overtime 38-36 against Gravesend. Only been going a couple of years and took some massive beatings at first. Now have the main team and a development team.
