  1. James Wade on now so we can start our sweepstake on how often commentators say James Wade doing what James Wade does … James Wade finds a way …. typical James Wade … these finishes are James Wade specialities … James Wade not stellar average but does the job …and variations on a theme

  5. Another quality match. A lot of matches have been like this, underdog goes a couple of sets up before the ranked player eventually claws it back. Hoping rather than hopeful for Smith vs Price here.

  6. I agree with you, just saying that sometimes the set score doesn’t tell the full story. Anderson didn’t annihilate Humphries but if you only saw the score you’d assume he did.

  7. Couldn’t agree more . I particularly like the Worlds and Grand Prix because of the set format . Many of the rest are just too samey … first to 6 first to 10 etc . Set play is more interesting and has more dimensions to it . You’d think there’s room for at least one more major moving to set play .

  8. As someone newer to darts, I must say I really prefer the sets format. It is arguably less fair but there is something about a best of 35 legs that feels like it's going to be a slog, and if one player is 5/6 legs ahead it doesn't feel like they'll come back. The nature of sets means that 3-1 doesn't feel quite as insurmountable.

  9. Hunt for the Wilderpeople - a New Zealand comedy drama about a delinquent boy and a crotchety old man avoiding the authorities in the bush on North Island. If you like the wry somewhat surrealist humour of Taika Waititi, you should enjoy this. Good performances by the leading actors (Sam Neill as the old man) and the usual bizarre cameo from Rhys Darby. And best of all, two mentions of rugby league (and one dismissive one of the All Blacks).

  10. Cheers WWD The Cathedral is a fine building, I was amazed that I had never heard of it (as architectural magnificence) until I actually visited it. All the very best to your good self and your family.

  14. not a big fan of american comedy but the golden girls was as close to british comedy as they got - great cast- good scripts - fantastic timing between the characters all cushioned by the great sense of desperation written in to the backbone of the finest british comedies

  16. “My life so far” Frankie Boyle’s autobiography, I know he’s not everybody’s cup of tea but it’s pretty funny imo and as you expect the humour is basically sexual and scatological, often combined

  17. Hasn't happened very often but in the 2019 1895 Cup we played a handful of DR lads away at Widnes and rested plenty of regulars, possible that might happen again in that comp or even in the Challenge Cup. More frequently though it's been a case of waiting for an injury and then proving themselves and keeping their spot, such as when Alex Sutcliffe was a late call-up at Leigh one day and ended up playing almost the entire rest of the season. Strange thing to say, for a few years now he's been by far the most reliable media source for RL signings news including about us.

  18. Well, you watched the first part and came on this thread to tell us all how awful you thought it was, so it’s reasonable for the rest of us to assume you wouldn’t carry on watching something you clearly don’t appreciate, just for the opportunity to keep moaning about it on here. Why not start a thread about 40 year old episodes of Minder instead? A show which, incidentally, was produced by a company set up by Verity Lambert, the original producer of Doctor Who back in 1963. But don’t let that put you off.
