  1. To quote a saying "Many a true word spoken in jest"
  2. Me neither, but they did do a good job of hosting the Barla national cup finals many years ago. Not as good as holding it in Blackpool but still a great weekend away.
  3. I think this time away from playing , training and the general association with team mates and friends could lead to a massive drop in standards and participation. Hope I am wrong.
  4. When playing against a lower league team in a cup competition many years ago. I had to visit the gents pre-match, on arrival at the communal urinals I joined 2 of our opposing team players. Our rather large prop forward had just left. One of our opposition players then commented to his team mate "Cant see much for us today , that mon who just left had muscles in his bloody face !!!"
  5. Seen him officiate about 5 times, 4 times excellent, once poor. A great comunicator with the players , a lot of the younger new referees should watch this guy and learn that respect is a two way thing.
  6. Number 1 every time, after being in the stadium in 2017 and witnessing the infamous ankle tap on Watkins. I personally can't wait to give the Aussies some stick back.
  7. Just done a bit of investigation, game was on 30th November , 2003. Challenge Cup . Result 28 6 win for bridge.
  8. You to mate, we had a great craic that weekend. I didn't play has I had retired and was a committee member and still am. Was a very heavy Saturday and even heavier Sunday !!!!
  9. Aberavon fighting Irish. Long time ago so memory not what it was.
  10. Did you play against Rose Bridge ? Long time ago though, I remember it was played on Sunday, we travelled down on Saturday and stayed in some chalet type accomodation on the banks of a river. Had a great night on the Saturday followed by a good craic on the Sunday. I know that we won but can't remember score or year.
  11. Was never reallythe same once the old Wembley closed. Wonder if some of the pubs around Easton station are stil around ? Cock tavern and summers coffee house spring to mind. Friday from 10 am was a superb start to the weekend of rugby , boozing and singing real happy days !!!!!
  12. On a bit of a nostalgia trip thinking about the challenge cup final weekend's. That really was magic !!!!. All the way from 1980 till the first time it was played at Cardiff my club ran a weekend trip to the final. Then we decided Cardiff wasn't for us so we ventured abroad for the sun and to watch the final. Unfortunately we have never returned. The craic and meeting up with all the clubs from all the rugby community was fantastic. The same faces the same songs and friendships that still remain today. It is a little ironic that we now see the same clubs enjoying the final in benidorm.
  13. Also the issue of players who have suffered financial hardship during this period of lockdown to consider. Will they put their financial situation first and Chase every hour of overtime ? What about all he key workers who have worked tirelessly to get us through this.. The first thing they will all want and need is a well deserved break to go on holiday or simply spend time with their loved ones. So many talking pointsand things to think about to get us back to some sort of normality. Again just disscusion points for us all to think about. Stay safe everyone.
  14. Following our enforced shutdown what are people's views on the impact this will have on the community game at open age level ? 1 could it be be it that players can't wait to get back on the training and playing fields. 2 players and officials want to enjoy their free time to spend with families who they have been isolated from for so long. ? I personally can't wait to take my grandkids out. 3 worse case scenario clubs can't recover from the financial impact on them . Know this is boring and far more things involved but this boarrd is very quiet recently. !!!!!!
  15. I am sure your right 09, but seriously you can be fined if found out doing so. Made up for warriors, hope youth can bring success,
  16. Remember if your a player or volunteer at a club you are not allowed a punt on Rugby League matches !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. You could not meet a nicer lad, deserves his success.
  18. Totally sick minded people who do things like this to a club at the heart of their community. No doubt Thatto will come through this. Keep your heads up from all at Ince Rose Bridge.
  19. Can only say that boxing day WIgan v Saints was probably one off the best days out all year. All pubs packed ground full and the Craic was superb. That at both towns.!!!!!
  20. A very large group from Rose Bridge attending Sunday the 8th at the Monaco Hindley. Monday looking dubious for work !!!
  21. Go to the official website for tickets and it showing more or less sold out. I can't see that being correct but it may just turn away a few neutrals who wish to see the game.
  22. Good luck lads do the NCL proud, from all at Ince Rose Bridge.
  23. Said it many times, we are all volunteers who are involved for our enjoyment and worrying about costs is not enjoyable.. I can assure you that finance is a major issue for all clubs.and the major concern for committees. Travel costs are without doubt the major costs to all of us. Granted the sponsorship secured by the NCL has been a great help to most clubs but surely the RFL can afford to support the next level to professional rugby league. The RFU are superb in looking after all clubs at all levels we need to take a look at them for inspiration.
  24. In last Saturdays fixture against Ince Rose Bridge, one the Ince Players ( Connor Meaden )suffered a double fracture of the Tibia and Fibulal. It was in the 67th minute of the game with Hull Dockers deservedly leading 32 -14. The referee rightly abandoned the game as agreed by both sets of player and coaches. We at IRB would like to put on record our thanks to all at Hull Dockers for the excellent care and help given to Connor. The players at Hull Dockers have also donated their fine money to Connor to help him in the coming months of recovery. A superb gesture and absolute cre
