ormskirknet
Confirmed new head coach is Alan Kilshaw Not many of us saw that coming. Decent pedigree without actually being a head coach over in the UK at Championship level, however he has had some success down under and been involved with England youth level, and Warrington academy previously Welcolme to the Nets Alan, I wish you every success and really hope you can kick on with the on-field activities and put a smile back on our faces. glemiln
Welcome to the Nets, Alan. Hope that you can bring to Hornets, the success achieved at Crocodiles. http://www.loverugbyleague.com/news_19446-kilshaw-shows-crocodiles-the-way-to-success.html I wonder if his previous links with Warrington will bring a change in dual-registration partners, assuming that dr remains an option? A few aussies coming this way soon?
mickhornet
Seems it wasn't a done deal and you shouldn't have put your house on Woodsy.Be interesting to see how long it will be before the knives come out for this one.

Snoopy Loopy
Let's hope that Matt calland never went for the job It looks like another yes man The board have no idea the club's going backwards Correct - no disrespect to Kilshaw, good luck to him - cant imagine season tickets flying out though due to the appointment From the boards point of view so obvious that they had a hidden agenda re one of the applicants and never had any intention of appointing him. Tyrone Shoelaces
I'll be getting a season ticket at the fans meeting on Thursday. Not because I'm a Kilshaw fan, I don't know a great deal about the guy to be honest. I'll be getting a season ticket because I'm a Hornets fan. No hidden agendas here. ornit4ever
Let's hope that Matt calland never went for the job It looks like another yes man The board have no idea the club's going backwards You have no idea if Calland applied for the job You have no knowledge that he is a yes man The club has only gone backwards playing wise only. My best wishes to our new coach and I hope your stay is a happy and successful one. Like most on this site we care little who holds the reins but we do care that the good name of Hornets continues and hopefully with renewed optimism for next season RUGBY LEAGUE WITHOUT ROCHDALE HORNETS IS LIKE AN UNSHARPENED PENCIL, THERES NO POINT? Snoopy Loopy
Ok, Alan Kilshaw, what are his credentials/ Who`s this Crocodiles team he`s coached and how recently? I don't think the level is anywhere near as good as Mayfields
DiddyDave
Thank you TS, Kilshaw`s certainly a bit of an unknown having read that link, but I guess he`s got nowt to lose because of that. Best of luck to him, just hope he won`t be another Steve Eyre, I guess this time next year we`ll know for sure.

Big Doug
What is the point of being a member at Hornets when you are not able to find out who applied for the job. As expected Mat Callands application was a total waste of time given obvious opposition to him from board members. I am sure that supporters would love to know who was overlooked. I asked a bird member at Mayfield tonight but the silence was deafening. What is the point of being a member. I HAVE NEVER GONE TO BED WITH AN UGLY WOMAN. BUT I HAVE WOKEN UP WITH A FEW
Tyrone Shoelaces
The other candidates applied for the post " in confidence " for obvious reasons. Do you want board members to betray that confidence ? Our reputation in the Rugby League world would be badly damaged if we revealed who else applied for the job. I would have thought all this was pretty obvious.

Doug the reasons are obvious when you read the contributions to numerous threads mentioning Matt Calland by a poster that comes from the house of a board member - unfortunately personal preference has got in the way of the right man for the job - when you have said that you have said it all - I notice everyone is bowled over with enthusiasm following the eventual appointment - chance missed

Well you didn't have long to wait for the knives to come out Mick. The guy hasn't even been in charge for one game yet. It's like I said earlier - " Some people want to be part of the problem and some people want to be part of the solution". I know where I stand. excolt
I couldnt make tonights meeting but I would like to know if he coaches open attractive rugby.it was very boring last season,I watched Mayfield last night and saw more creativity in that game than in a full season at Spotland.Odd really as Saints play open rugby, still all the best to the coach, hope he goes well. Tyrone Shoelaces
"Fall in line with what I/the club want or be called part of a problem if you have a different opinion" If you've got a different opinion you could have come to the fans meeting tonight and aired it. You could also see how many people share your point of view.
Heywood Tiger
Jono Smith could be a very shrewd signing,19 tries last year for a forward! I notice from Twitter there are 2 Mayfield lads on there way, I would guess maybe Aidy Gleeson and Lewis Sheridan to get an overdue opportunity... http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/rochdalecobrasarlfc/ http://www.hornetsrugbyleague.co.uk/Home/Page http://www.wiganwarriors.com/
