Weed killers

Recommended Posts

A combination of rain and sun has got the weeds growing like no ones business on my drive.

Whats the best animal friendly way to treat 'em?

Glyphosate is the best plant killer. Despite a lot of the bad press it's had over the years, I've used it on farms for 20 years and never seen any evidence of ill effects on animals. What sort of animals are grazing in your driveway?

No grazers but we have a dog and two cats and I obviously don't want to poison them

I've got three dogs. I use weed killer gly phosphate very sparingly, no problems. Best in my experience to remove the weeds physically, then keep them down using small amounts of weedkillerss as and when as they appear.

Phil, there other old fashioned methods, such as using a blow torch-obviously not suitable for all surfaces- and also pouring boiling water on to the weeds. I use the latter but it aint practical for large areas.
