On 29.9.1979 I started work as a trainee accountant for the National Coal Board.

I was urged to build a future on coal and promised "a job for the next 300 years". Do I have a claim for fraudulent misrepresentation?

When I started my Classics degree in 2002 one tutor said we were wasting our time and there was no jobs in it.

If I had paid £9K per year for what is effectively a training course I would expect to be treated like a very important customer.

to be fair, I paid £3K per year for a Micky Mouse degree, that was bad enough.

I do wonder if you can truly be mis-sold something in caveat emptor Land especially when you opt into the course you wanted to do. And it's not like degrees are promoted and advertised as guaranteeing a future. The phrase a university education generally used and would need the public school element taken out of it to be able to see the wood for the forest.

I can hear the "We have done nothing illegal!" winging their way towards us as we type!

I would've thought a useless degree would be a perfect qualification for working at the Beeb at any rate.

In fairness,  she has already lost one court case and been required to pay their legal costs. On the other hand, Anglia Ruskin claimed to be a "renowned centre of excellence" and I suspect they'd struggle to back that claim up.

Perhaps rename it to Anglia Trump University?

Universities cannot take direct money from people and expect to get away with short changing them.

Would it help if I mentioned that Anglia Ruskin's Chancellor is the lovely chap Michael Ashcroft?  And the business school this young lady went to was Lord Ashcroft International Business School?
