anyone at the ranch today or driving past. it's the workington reds juniors tournament day. All those kids playing football. do they not deserve better facilities?

Don't know how many teams are there but cars are parked on the verges from the tip up into salterbeck and the field is rammed with kids and parents, although the reds first team struggled last year their whole community set up is light years ahead of anything that town are doing.Hopefully the allerdale councillors of Harrington and Moorclose will be showing face as they are so keen to support grass roots sport

Just reading last weeks Times & Star. We keep having a go at Jenkinson but Bill Finlay is just as bad as him with his ""regular" letter in the paper every week. He really is anti Workington isn't he.

Fully agree with all that, just look at Jenkinson on Facebook and his disgusting, condescending, demeaning, bullying attitude when anyone dares question him.

He’s even had his wife sticking up for him on social media because people are slagging him off. She seems to forget he’s based his career on it.

Why on earth would those kids want to play and train on modern fit for purpose pitches. And use those disgusting modern day changing rooms too!

I genuinely feel sorry for those hard working coaches and volunteers of all the kids teams who have to make do and mend when other areas are blessed with up to date facilities.

Finlay gets his letter in every week when others supporting the stadium don't he's not local so no surprise he wants no development in the Area. He just can't except that Workington is the major Town in Allerdale with different needs to the likes of Hayton and Silloth. We have a ouncillor calling the shots who won a constituency with probably less than 50 in it.

It isn't run by reds it's an ex player who organises it .

its run by the youth section of the club, which plays under the club badge but runs its self, same as reds in the community it's a totally separate business to the main club but operates under the club brand If thats what you call it.

It’s on again today, too many teams for a 1 day festival. One of my grandkids is playing in the U9’s. Youth football is thriving in Workington with over 500 players & 50 coaches playing under the Reds name. Also is the Reds Diamonds girls & ladies.

Shame there are no proper facilities for such well supported events eh?  500+ kids playing on a 'well preserved cow field's with portacabins for changing rooms.

The volunteers of the area deserve huge credit for continuing with such little support from ABC
