TITLE OF LAST RESERVE COMPETITION

Any one know?. Was it the the Alliance Comp back in 90's.

The old U20’s, above the U18’s academy, was effectively a reserve competition, with 3 overage players allowed.

I think it change from Alliance League to Rugby League Reserves Championship under Super League.

Not heard what its going to be called this time.

Presumably Betfred will want their name attached to it as title sponsor.

Not unless it’s a clause in the contract or the SL/RFL are dumb enough to give it away.

Slalom Lager got it bundled into their main sponsorship rights back in the 1980s I think, so precedent has been set.

I think Slalom Lager was the first pint I had in a pub, somehow it didn't put me off drinking.

Mansfield were called Marksman because after a lager, see number 9:

I enjoyed reading that , took me back a bit having worked for some of those Breweries. Greenalls also did a Lager called Hagen, that was naff as well. The joke used to be that you could have eight pints and still pass the breathalizer test!

Did Sky used to show Academy/Reserve games in the late 90’s? I have a belief they did.
