Currently 2-0 Carcassonne midway through the first half despite all the pressure coming from St Esteve.

Who is that beanpole loose forward for St Esteve?

Corentin le Cam. Tallest player in the league. Possibly tallest in the world??

Corentin Le Cam scored two tries. The giant with choir boy look - earlier a line-outer at the XV as well as a basketball player. Good hands and reads the game well. Can he go all the way?

4 excellent encounters I think especially as few of the teams hadn't played any warm-up games. All four losers picked up the defensive bonus point. In two of the games no points recorded in the first-half hour. Yesterday Villeneuves/Lot's Australian recruit Schaumkel showed his worth on debut scoring a try early on always looked a threat. Coach Devecchi was pleased with his halves Godinet and Wall. The former ex-Wakefield player was there last-term and now in tandem with the Australian  Wall who was at St Gaudens last season.Plus they've got  last years outstanding full back Lasvenes returning from Limoux . USV and Albi made-up the last qualifying places in 2019. I think they could be up there again - even more so which would be good for the comp.FCL and Carcassonne will have their overseas players available soon too. A good start I reckon.

Don't see many 6ft8 second rowers around!

Yes, good hands. There's natural talent there.

It's Great to see French RL get some coverage. I always cringe when nay sayers about RL say its only played in the North of England, OZ, PNG and Auckland. Its Far more popular in France than they realise. 800k a year is a decent budget tbh.

There must be some Anzacs making a decent wadge and living a good life playing in Elite 1.

Hopefully some talent comes through to SL as if France can ever get 30-50 Players at SL level as Starters they will have some National Team.

Its not easy to find good players even with a budget over 800k

The two teams and staff from the first game doubled the crowd when they came out of the changing rooms to sit in the stand for the second game! Joking aside I'd say 3to400 each day maximum

Why do they have a magic weekend is it for the current TV deal with VIaoccitaine? otherwise it sounds like the round would draw a better total attendance if the figures were held  as a normal round?

I've posted before that the French Magic Weekend should be held over three days in Narbonne at the Parc des Sports Et de l'Amitié, capacity 12,000.

Aside from the stadium itself there are three pitches adjacent on which you could hold junior, youth and Masters competitions.

Narbonne is pretty much central to all RL playing areas in France and has good road, rail and air links.

Friday Night Lights - St Esteve v Toulouse Broncos and/or Falcou/Dejean/Allieres Final

Saturday - Two Elite games followed by Toulouse Olympique

Sunday - Two Elite games followed by Catalan Dragons

Select two well supported English clubs to travel and throw out invites across Europe for the amateur comps. The campus is big enough for bars and fan zones etc. Throw in a bit of good weather in June and this event could be huge.
