He wouldn’t currently be eligible to play for the All Blacks if he’s playing in France.

How do you know he would be on less money in SL?

Took the words out of my mouth. He’s not getting selected for the All Blacks if playing club footy in Europe.

Why is it perfectly fine for players in other sports to play the same old teams but seemingly not in Rugby League?

Not sure why it isn't perfectly fine to decide to try another code in different counties? He's a professional sportsman, this is his job, not his hobby.

Try Googling French RU salary cap

That's nothing to do with the question.

Could be a path towards picking up a super rugby contract with a New Zealand team but at 28 he’s definitely leaving it a bit on the late side.

If he needs to go to France for a path to SR, then he’s out of the equation already. He would need to be going to NZ now

Huge name and figure for the kiwis and especially in his position of centre.

Well, as a Kangaroos supporter, can't say I'm all too bothered about that aspect. But from the perspective of the NRL, I don't see the big deal, especially at his age. Even at the Roosters, as a neutral, he's not someone I'm turning on the game for. Prime Tedesco or Sam Walker going to union would be much sadder.

We should save the mourning for elite playmakers. The game is very good at developing elite wingers/centres.

Sonny Bill Williams followed that route, started in French RU before going to NZ RU. He might even have thought about it...

There is P&R in French RU, so there is change every year.
