The NRL Finals Round 1 Thread

Very impressive from the Panthers after a disjointed season. A full-strength Roosters would probably have struggled today.

The NSW Government will deliver a $309 million redevelopment of Penrith Stadium to support the growing population of Western Sydney and improve the event experience for venue users. The stadium upgrade has been designed to improve the game day experience for fans and players.

According to what I read it will be closed for 2025 season and reopen 2026.

Interesting the tv coverage was from 9 . I didn’t like it . I didn’t like the commentary which was waffling and the main commentator calling players by first names which I always find cringing in sport , and I don’t like  the big strap across the bottom of the screen . I knocked it off and watched watch NRL after about 20 minutes . I’m used to fox coverage now I preferred it . The game itself was pretty much over before it started . I dont  know why Leniu was on the sidelines so long when they were getting monstered , but overall it reinforced the view that the Roosters are shot with their injuries and the Panthers have this time of season nailed

I use WatchNRL who use FoxSports. We get Ch9 for Origin Matches.

The commentator who grates with me is Dan Ginnane. I know from saying this in the past that some on here do like is commentary.

I don’t mind him , I like Warren Smith the least tbh with his ‘ staying alive ‘ and the kick is ‘ to big ‘ which isn’t even English. And why do Aussies say verse rather than versus . I’ve noticed this from a few down there

Sharks beat the Storm in Melbourne back in Round 10. Hughes and Papenhuyzen were missing for Melbourne in that game but Hynes and Trindall were missing from the Sharks team. I expect a Storm win here. In fact I expect Storm wins all the way to the end of the season.

12min: Sione Katoa in the corner for the Shirks

Cronulla were making good yards on their sets but getting confused on their final plays. They finally got a repeat set and TRY.

Hynes missed the goal

Cronulla 4 - 6

Sione Katoa some sort of non-specific injury trying to survive to HT, less than 2 minutes away. Could be backular or legular. I hope it's not Creuzfeldt Jakob Disease.

With seconds lelft, Trindall puts Nikora over and he grounds it behind the black dot.

Hynes goal

HT:   Storm  14  Cronulla  10

42min: Harry Grant dives over from dummy half but grounds the ball on the defender's foot. I reckon he then lost the ball butnker says he kept possession
