glemiln Posted September 23 Posted September 23 The RFL disciplinary for Roden indicates a Dangerous Throw/Lift……. Grade D charge with a 2 Match Penalty Notice plus £40 fine. Nothing yet for any other cases.

I presume all the panellist's that have banned him for 2 games are Keighley fans as well?

I presume all the panellist's that have banned him for 2 games are Keighley fans as well? The club have stated they are appealing and there is a cost to an appeal I believe, so they must feel they have a strong case to appeal it. I watched the game back on YouTube yesterday, and its never a red card. If you watch the footage yes his legs go above the horizontal but he lands on his arm / chest / side. Thaler clearly isn't sure and you see him take the view from his touch judge, who you can see tells him he landed on his head (which he didn't) as the camera is focused on them at this point. Thaler then gives him a red and says he landed on his head based on the view of a touch judge. Its a penalty for sure, possibly a yellow card at worst, but never a red. Fingers crossed common sense prevails.

I was wondering if it was due to it being a play off game and there not been the same number of games to asses? I'm guessing though.

The club have nothing to lose from an appeal (other than the money it costs to appeal) - As it stands Roden will miss potentially the 2 biggest games of the season, you may as well roll the dice and see if you can get a reduction. Above the horizontal is the understatement of the century, his legs are almost completely vertical.

Roden isn’t the sort of player to try to injure an opponent. The speccies behind the goals gave that, not the officials. I see Thaler has called it a day, a week too late for us unfortunately. 2 4

Brummie Hornet Posted September 25 Posted September 25 I remember Thaler when he was a young ref disallowing 4 Hornets try’s for not grounding the ball in one game . Mind you, if memory serves me right, not a given these days unfortunately , it wax against Featherstone so probably not a surprise. I have thought of him as Bent Thaler ever since. The Rugby League will probably make him Head of Referees next 1
glemiln Posted September 25 Posted September 25 (edited) Thaler has a new role with the RFL in the recruitment and development of match officials! He will remain available as a video referee in a new role. https://www.rugby-league.com/article/63137/belle-vue-swansong-for-thaler Edited September 25 by glemiln
