Think that Fev match was at Headingley. 2007.

Now you mention it, you may be right. For some reason i thought it was at post office rd, I seem to remember,  rightly or wrongly it was renamed the chris moyles stadium. Of course I could have been hallucinating. 🫤

Post Office Road was certainly called the Chris Moyles Stadium for a year or two around that period.

We were all hallucinating.

If you'd strengthened it last year, you might not have finished bottom. I've seen Dewsbury in two games this year and they've more than competed in one and a half of them.

Aye. If my auntie had............................

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

They were changed well before that because of the Middle 8s

If you say so. Imho, the middle eights were a very different snimal.

The Championship Final game was axed because it was replaced by the terribly named Million Pound game at the culmination of the Middle 8s, which was hosted at the highest place team's ground instead of a neutral venue. It had absolutely nothing to do with Toronto Wolfpack because they hadn't even been founded when the Middle 8s started in 2015. This system continued after the Middle 8s were axed. Given that the system began before Toronto were founded, and that it has continued in the 4 seasons since Toronto folded, to cite Toronto as the reason behind the system is ludicrous.

IMO the reason this system has continued is because it saves the RFL the cost of hiring a venue and putting on a game - i.e. I believe they're opting for the cheap (free) option rather than making the effort to make the Championship Final a big occasion in its own right.

Ground rent comes out of the clubs' gate shares but you're welcome to your opinion.

Does the marketing and independent ticketing do that too? Who gets the concession payments?

As are you. But the distinct lack of any evidence whatsoever to support your opinion undermines it somewhat.

If you say so.  I await the evidence for your opinion with interest.

I've given you the evidence - Toronto didn't exist when the RFL created the Middle 8s and Million Pound Game played at the highest ranking team's ground, and they've ceased to exist for the last 4 seasons. So I eagerly await your evidence as to why this policy is all because of Toronto.

It's not evidence.  It's your opinion of cause and effect.   No more valid than my opinion.  Which is based on my recollections.  You can accept it or reject it.  Won't change my life in any way.

This is just an internet forum.  Not Crown Court.

Haven't seen an actual statement of account for a lot of years now.  The last one I saw would be before marketing and independent ticketing was a thing in Rugby League.

Likewise. Speaking personally, I just find the fact that a club didn't exist when a new policy was implemented as fairly compelling evidence that said policy wasn't invented due to them... You obviously think otherwise for some reason, as is your prerogative...

If London were to disappear and Toulouse were to decide this wasn't worth it all, then .... 11 & 11. Nice and neat 🙂

Different competition, playoff between top clubs in one comp, between the middle clubs in another, no reason why the rules should be the same.

If I'm wrong, it doesn't really bother me.  If you're right, you'll get a warm, smug feeling but you won't have gained anything.

Au contraire - the warm, smug feeling helps me save on central heating bills... And it's good that you're not bothered that you're wrong... 😉

Would anyone else like to take over this pointless discussion from which I've been trying to disengage for half a dozen posts now?
