1. "They spent their life savings".....so they only have £3500 savings as a young family but they bloody blow that on a few days jolly

2. So they've done the holiday.....schools haven't broken up yet why have they taken their 7 year old out of school to do this jolly?

Words fail me on the stupidity of people and thier money

Some people just deserve the money problems they end up in...it's the kid I feel sorry for

It's the holiday company's fault but, sure, do keep bootlicking for faceless corporations.

I've had a similar issue on holidays over the years, with no accountability shown by the holiday company.   I've lost count of the number of times there's been a rain shower on the beach, or I've had to put a long sleeve shirt on because the wind gets up.

It isn't much better holidaying in the UK to be honest.   Head up to the lakes for a weekend in the summer, and a heatwave breaks out and it's just too hot.   I think the lakes there are fake like at DisneyWorld, where some guy fills it from a hose every morning.

Again. The holiday company have a policy in place that they are failing to honour.

What is reasonable in these circumstances though?    The family paid for a Santa trip to Lapland.   They got to see snow on the first day, no doubt saw Santa, but didn't get to do the Huskies and Snowmobile.   The Company offered a 50% refund, which seems reasonable considering the loss of activities.   I am surprised that there wasn't any alternative non-snow activity offered (maybe there was) but they got at least half of what they paid for, and DID see snow.   There is never a guarantee of weather on any holiday, as it isn't within anyone's control.

The family ask why their trip wasn't re-scheduled.   It would never be able to be rescheduled, these trips sell out and rooms are fully booked.   I know, because I operate them quite a bit in November and December (different Company).   If the Company decided to cancel, how would they explain to their 7-year old that he couldn't see Santa now?

The company shouldn't have the policy, then.

Simple as that.

And while they do, they should honour it.

The policy said (I'm quoting the family so I haven't seen the source material in the paperwork) "No snow you don't have to go".   There was snow but not enough for some activities.   Half the money back doesn't sound too much of a compromise.

Sticking rigidly to thread's title, you have to ask why you've stuck it out so long on here?

However I believe this thread could grow into a marvelous collection of "I don't believe it" examples.

I know Jet2 are good but didn't know they can control the weather.

TUI are an awful company.

Actually, I've no experience of either. Mainly use the Camping and Caravan Club for ferry crossings. ⛴️

No comment on the kid being pulled out of school or the irresponsible spaffing of "Thier life savings" on a jolly for a few days ?

Or was that the faceless corporations decision?

I wasn't commenting on the holiday company...I commented on the family's initials decisions

For what it's worth I think they should refund the family...

Hilarious the way GInger Jon ignored my actual post and went straight into left wing warrior mode ( as is his wont)...😂😂😂

I know, I wasn’t trying to defend the holiday company.   Just pointing out that when you go on holiday there’s a certain amount of understanding required.    There was some snow but not enough required to all the activities.    Hence meeting half way on compensation seemed a fair offer for me.

i agree about TUI not being the best.   There are now other options in Bedfordshire for you, you’ll just be sponsoring Leigh a bit more 😂

They are, I'm afraid, just beginners in the stupidity stakes.

Fancy going to the US without insurance, when you have multiple seriois illnesses.

The worst thing about that one is that the money she could have spent on insurance went on treating her two unemployed sons (in their 40s) to a Disney holiday… (if the newspaper stories are correct).

Those really aren’t my concern. I suspect a large part of why they did it was the guarantee provided by the company.

Look I'm not trying to pick a fight here Jon but I commented on their decision to go not the company's refusal to pay out

You commented something about me bootlicking corporations !

I think the company should pay out!

In which case I’ve misunderstood your reason for posting!

Never mind. We more or less agree.

I thought your response was a bit at odds with the original post.

Parents d!ck heads, TUI absolutely an appalling company. I'll bet TUI's small print has some bizarre reference to if snow is mentioned in a forecast (arriving or failing to arrive, just the word snow) then they can get out of it.
