"Workington Town are today delighted to announce the signing of Australian front row forward Oliver Gordon.

Gordon began his rugby league career with the famous Canterbury Bulldogs playing in their under 20's Toyota Cup side alongside the likes of Australian international forward David Klemmer and boom stand off Moses M'Bye.

His recent rugby has been played in the NSW Ron Massey cup competition with the Blacktown club. His performances merited his inclusion in the Ron Massey cup representative side to take on their Queensland counterparts.

Gordon, 23 has a great pedigree and English heritage and is hungry to make a name for himself at the club in the 2016 Kingstone press championship Workington Town Director Garry Mounsey commented "We're delighted with the capture of Oliver who comes to us with an excellent pedigree in the game and a real hunger to succeed.

He is another addition to an already strong pack of forwards. He's met the rest of the squad and is ready to put the hard yards in pre season and we look forward to seeing him in action in the new year"

Welcome to Workington Town Oliver and hopefully your move here works out for you and the club.   You certainly appear to have the right attitude to succeed so best of luck for an injury free season (and more).

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

Welcome to the Aussie Ozzy. Hope he settles in quickly and adds that bit of aggression we need up top.

On a different note where is T123? Is he sulking or banned?? In a strange way I kinda miss his negativity...

The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

Yeh I was looking for a signing or welcome photo to see the big lad close up . Hopefully imminent ... Speaking of which , is anything happening this week ? Season tickets and merchandise coming in , and there's a date this week ( yes among many ) on which Sammut was supposedly free to be announced . Is it finally coming to end the now tedious saga ? Big chance to get tickets and gear shifted in coordination with firm news rather than endless vague titbits

Looks a broad , sturdy individual . And on those clips he has a fair turn off foot running the ball in . I hope he gets the rewards for doing the hard yards now

yes he certainly looks sturdy. Phil has been after him for a couple of years so he must rate him.
