Cronulla have released prop David Fifita, allowing him to take up an opportunity with English Super League club Wakefield.

Fifita, the twin brother of Sharks and NSW forward Andrew, was recently granted three weeks leave to address personal issues and travelled to the UK.

The 26-year-old spent 10 days in hospital earlier in the season with a golden staph infection and has made just two NRL appearances in 2016.

SydneyRoosters young gun Latrell Mitchell will miss Saturday night’s clash with Melbourne.
Mitchell has been ruled out after picking up an ankle injury last week.
Blake Ferguson or Connor Watson are the likely replacements for Mitchell at fullback for the game at Allianz Stadium.

Meanwhile Newcastle centre Nathan Ross will be rested this weekend after picking up a calf injury against North Queensland last weekend.
New recruit Brendan Elliot is expected to take his place and make his club debut for the Knights after signing from the Roosters earlier this week.

Junior Kiwis wrecking ball Esan Marsters is the most in-demand player yet to make his NRL debut.

The Wests Tigers under 20s backrower is being chased by five NRL clubs, with Cronulla favourites to snare his prized signature.

Market Watch can reveal the Sharks, Manly, South Sydney and Newcastle are all chasing the 19-year-old, while the Tigers aren’t giving up hope, desperate to keep him at their Concord base next season.

Justin O’Neill admits that having played his best football in North Queensland will make it hard for him to leave the club.

Weighing up his future with his first child on the way, the Queensland centre is asking for more than $400,000-a-season from potential suitors.

Cronulla are hopeful Luke Lewis will stay in the Shire next season despite attracting the eye of Newcastle and several Super League clubs.

St Helens and Catalans have both been linked to the 32-year-old but the Sharks haven’t closed the door on Lewis remaining at the club next season.

  • Newcastle have identified Greg Bird as the man to rebuild the Knights and have made moves to poach the NSW Origin player.Coach Neil Henry said the 225-game veteran was contracted to the Titans next season.
  • Sydney Roosters announced that one-club man Mitchell Aubusson has today re-committed for a further three years, keeping him at the Club until the end of 2019
  • St George Illawarra Dragons have announced that Tariq Sims will join the Club effective immediately after being released by the Newcastle Knights.

AUSTRALIA representative winger Semi Radradra has reportedly walked out of his Parramatta NRL contract.

According to the Nine Network, the Eels’ player boarded a plane on Saturday morning for Fiji, telling the club he was not coming back.

Radradra wants to pursue a rugby union career in France but is contracted with Parramatta beyond this season.

In a possible compromise, however, Nine is reporting the club is willing to let him go to France to play rugby from August to April, but on the basis that he comes back to the Eels to be part of their 2017 campaign.

Corey Parker to retire at the end of this year - Melbourne Rovers will be devastated.

Roosters sign Luke Keary to a 2-year deal http://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/teams/rabbitohs/reports-south-sydney-playmaker-luke-keary-has-signed-twoyear-roosters-deal/news-story/7b520abead4f4930f2b20e97a43049b4

I retired CP13 some weeks ago.

Melbourne Rovers may consider bringing him back after Origin especially if he is back goal kicking regularly. We'll probably have a board meeting to mull this over.

This bloke is the perfect forward. An absolute star.

JAMES Segeyaro appears to have played his last game for Penrith after telling teammates he expects to join Super League strugglers Leeds as early as this week.

Segeyaro is understood to have broken the overseas transfer news to several players during a field session on Monday on a cool, windy afternoon at the foot of the mountains.

The Leeds deal is expected to include the remainder of this season and 2017.

I'm sure he's really looking forward to playing the local derbies against Bradford, Batly and Fev

Im excited by this signing, hope its true! Would rather have Segayaro than Farah, who worried me in terms of the friction he is part of at Wests and whether he likes to wield too much power.

I think Segayaro would be awesome in Super League, would suit his style of play and he can be one of the top players in the league. Will be interesting to see if any NRL clubs will come after him again, in 2014 he was on fire in the NRL so its odd that he cant secure an NRL spot, unless he would rather come here for a year or two for the experience?

Surely Broncos wouldn't move Parker on?

He's still performing as well if not better than any other Broncos forward.

Why would he be having talks about extending his contract to 2017 and looking to even get a manager to negotiate and then a couple months later announce his retirement. He has been going well this year and could easily do another year. Just for me looks like he has been told move on or retire. Maybe he is feeling it. Just seems all rather sudden after what was said a couple of months ago.

I thought he'd signed a big bucks deal with Fox sports (or is it Ch9) as a commentator for next year ?

I said recently that Fox Sports seem to be grooming him for that role but it's only the Sterlo show at the moment. I can only agree with above that he seems to have been pushed. On his current form he could easily do another year of NRL.

Well that's a pleasant surprise.

It will add an extra layer of interest in seeing how Zak goes in the NRL and as it says, with immediate effect. So we should/could see Zak playing in the very near future.

He'll want to do well to secure a deal for the future too.

Segyaro should do well for Leeds in SL
