England declare on 823 for 7, with a double century for Joe Root and a triple century for Harry Brook. :kolobok_shok:

Insane numbers, but only a 267-run lead.

Pakistan 41 for 3, including Woakes taking a wicket with the first ball of the innings.

Uh-oh - after a decent start, England have just lost 4 wickets for 14 runs in 18 deliveries.

Well a 2-1 series defeat to Pakistan who had been coming in with a terrible record recently at home in test cricket.

The home side really looked good once they sidelined Gillespie and started picking teams and preparing to get the best out of the conditions they faced.

We were pretty much outplayed in every department in the last two tests after Joe Roof got the series off to a great start.

Once they beefed up their spin bowling attack on the big turning pitches and also had a middle order that much favoured attacking spin bowling our number was up.

Next test series is in New Zealand against a red hot team that could be coming home off the back of a great series win in India.

India though fighting back chasing a big total to win.

Looked like NZ had them on the ropes but India now 118-2 requiring another 241 to win.

Jaiswal on 68 and Kohli on 10 - there’s a big crowd in too.

Not now, Kohli trapped lbw after the earlier loss of two quick wickets and the Indians are 147-5 needing a batting miracle to deny New Zealand their first ever series win in India.

Credit to Pakistan, their spinners bowled epic spells and worked hard for their success.

The erstwhile "Rawalpindi Express" Shoaib Akhtar opined that, whoever won the series, England would have learned more. I'm not sure I could agree with that, having woken up early this morning to hear the collapse.

How many sports are on FTA with enough regularity on a weekly basis in the UK? Apart from major events are any of the leagues a staple of FTA weekend offerings? I was under the impression that anything of any value was behind a paywall.

Cricket will be fine, much as it always has.

Are England permanently ruling out any tours over the Christmas period from now on?

If so, that’s disappointing.

I’m all for player welfare, but have noticed Australia vs India is taking place this during the festive season - makes you wonder how they cope but our cricketers don’t?

I have to work over Christmas as part of my job and don’t find it unreasonable that perhaps it’s part and parcel of life for an international cricketer at times.

World Test Championship at Lord’s next year.

England are out, but the upcoming Australia vs India test series will have a big bearing on at least one of the finalists in this two year cycle (2023-2025).

South Africa and New Zealand will feel they also have a chance if they can sweep their opponents.

I would like to see a baseball style series with straight knockouts culminating in a final eventually, but I guess big wheels turn slowly and the people who run test cricket are still hoping the conservative approach will keep test match cricket relevant.

Interesting game in Perth, with Australia currently 12-3 in their second innings needing 522 to beat India. Bumrah looking far too good for the home team.

I've been waking up to the final hours of each days play on the radio.

Less depressing than having the news on.

The TV rights for the forthcoming New Zealand v England test series have been won by TNT. That's live coverage and highlights.

Plus the radio commentary is TalkScrote, not TMS.

Sri Lanka got South Africa in all sorts of trouble at 118-7 in their first test of the series in Durban.

If India can inflict a heavy series defeat on Australia and Sri Lanka can sweep South Africa here then you’ve got potential for a Sri Lanka-Australia deciding series next for who plays in the World Test Championship (2023-2025) at Lord’s next year.

New Zealand of course are still contention, but would likely need to whitewash England.

Within hours South Africa skittled out Sri Lanka for 42!
