RL Sonja
Vale to the big man. Only 64. Highly destructive player, marvellous point scorer - at his peak in the famous Test series versus Australia in 1985. It’s been a terrible week of losses for the great game. Dunbar
John Raper over in Australia, Dessie Drummond and now Filipaina. Three greats of the game. I didn't see Raper play live but Drummond and Filipaina were two of my absolute favourite players as teenager starting to watch the game for the first time. I wish someone had warned me that one of the drawbacks of entering your 50's is that you start to lose your heroes. And both of them, far too soon. Archie Gordon
Oh no. Loved these guys from the 1980s. A good read from a few years ago if anyone's interested: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2015/apr/30/the-forgotten-story-of-olsen-filipaina

RayCee
I recall watching Olsen at a club match at Carlow Park playing for the Mangere East Hawks late in his career IIRC. He was quiet until the last ten minutes when he suddenly came to life and scored two quick tries and won the game for them. He was a handful. RIP. jacksy
RIP big fella. An amazing player who W Lewis hated playing against. Rugby Union the only game in the world were the spectators handle the ball more than the players.
