Number 16
Pottering around my allotment yesterday I was assailed by several bees that proceeded to sting me a dozen or so times, including my face. I awoke this morning covered with swellings and looking like the Elephant Man. Now they're annoying little s0ds, but our eco-system needs 'em. They're interesting and complex creatures. Stirlin
Have no problem with bees , wasps , bumblebees , have been stung a few times but as you say our eco system needs them . Any type of fly makes my skin crawl , even gone to the trouble of knocking together flyscreens for the windows in my gaff.
JohnM
Wasps,Yeah! (What are they good for?) Absolutely nothing, uhuh (Wasps huh) Yeah! (What are they good for?) Absolutely nothing Say it again, y’all! (Wasps, huh) Lookout! (What are they good for?) Absolutely nothing Listen to me, awwwww! Wasps I despise ‘Cause they means destruction of innocent lives Wasps means tears to thousands of mothers’ eyes When their sons go out to fight and lose their lives I said (Wasps huh) Good God y’all (What are they good for?) Absolutely nothing, say it again (Wasps, huh) Lord, lord, lord, lord (What are they good for?) Absolutely nothing Listen to me!

They are annoying, but they are pollinators, so they are good for something. Rethymno Rugby League Appreciation Society Founder (and, so far, only) member. Struggling to breathe, I made it to a nursing home in Cranleigh who called the ambulance. That was in itself unusual since normally people left the place by hearse, they said. Got my own back on waspdom by swallowing it. Edited May 10, 2022 by JohnM
Wolford6
I've never found out why the first milk given by an ewe or a cow to their newborn suckling is called the beestings. Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police
Futtocks
I never really need an excuse for this, but what the hell. Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted. Ralph Waldo Emerson

RayCee
My dad encounted a very large hornet in India many moons ago. It stung him in the armpit. He said the pain was intense. Try to avoid that if in a country with large hornets. My blog: https://rugbyl.blogspot.co.nz/ It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course. Spotted a few in Singapore and yes they are big , think it was a couple of years ago a golf tournament in Singers one golfer ran to an artificial lake and dived in as a swarm of them were attacking him.
