IMG's first recommendation

Breaking news IMG's first recommendation is the scraping of relegation for category A Super League sides, looks like we might be back to playing for the sake of it. It implies that there will be category B Super League sides, will that be us, with no chance of promotion to category A ?

Featherstone Rovers welcome the initial findings of the work undertaken by IMG as part of the Reimagining Rugby League Project, As a club we welcome the findings of the report by IMG, we believe that the recommendations include sensible and timely initiatives that will strengthen the future of our sport.

No Magic or Bash but there's talk of intrducing a nines comp to replace magic if they do  would  they  do the same for the championship?

Furthermore proposed the sixth round of the Challenge Cup being two-legged, with an aggregate score determining who advances to the quarter-finals. The two-legged proposal has been designed for several reasons;  but one is, to reward non-Super League clubs who advance to the last 16 with the opportunity to host a Super League side

But some , like the MP for Keighley cannot grasp that a club like say Saints or Hull can be booted out of the A league if they do not meet the criteria , they could suffer the same fate as the Bulls and suffer the consequences. There is nothing to stop our club in the future from attaining A status , we already have ticked some of the boxes and todays re-branding shows we are fully supportive of what lies ahead for TGG.

In the mean time next season looks  even more competitive in the champ with the likes of the Cougars coming up , Kear bringing back Gilmore to the Vikings which could see other names in the top six come season end.

In 2019 when we defied all odds and claimed 3rd in the champ a certain Leigh supporter said on these forums that because Toronto were so strong that year no other team was really trying to secure a place for promotion , yeah right. What stuck in his craw was a team coming up from lge one had the audacity to be so competitive to

beat Leigh and other fancied teams to third place , we beat his team home and away.

This season did any team in the league ever give up just because Leigh spent all that dosh and were shoein for Super League ? , nope. I honestly cannot fathom why folks think IMG's proposals will make playing in the second tier/league B less competitive. Teams from league one will still have the opportunity to come up and achieve what we have done....so far , Oldham , Rochdale etc to get back to their heady days , for me it is a very positive step and I look forward to TGG being on the up year on year.

Nobody is asking you to.

Err. I thought the club were asking people to buy season tickets/ match tickets. That’s the point of professional sport?

Thought that’s what they were saying without saying it. Not for next year but the future

Nope. Promotion & relegation will remain while there are still 'Cat B' clubs in Super League. When SL is eventually full of 'Cat A' clubs, then the league will look to expand.

It's all about bringing clubs up to standard on and off the pitch.

Just to clarify for you and Deano IMG asked CYC to sort out the infamous lay-by on the A19. The result? No more seasons of dead rubbers. Boom Boom!

Not sure how to shoehorn this in (oo er Missus) but "Batley Bulldoggers".
