Featherstone Lions Needs your help

Please help us by supporting our Rugby club and get the club back to its former glory within the heart of Featherstone

Sadly, the club and its grounds has recently been left in a dire state, there is little money left in the community account to self fund all the work that’s currently required and in addition to this over the last couple of years through poor management the club has accrued a critical amount of utility debt.

The club are in the process of appointing new committee members to get the clubs primary focus back to being Rugby are looking for support far and wide to help improve the club facilities and environment for the players, supporters and visitors that attend the club.

We currently have over 200 boys and girls and again want it to be a club with amazing rugby facilities that the people of Featherstone and surrounding rugby community are proud and passionate about. While being an amazing site for visiting teams.

Please share this post , spread the word and let’s help better Featherstone Lions RUGBY club improve and create a positive environment for all.

Has the RLWC2021 Capital Grants programme now closed or still open? Maybe that's an avenue to check.

Unfortunately all most grants have closed.  We were told we were  applying for everything but turns  out we applied for nothing.  So clubs  have been given thousands while we have gone backwards

Did any of your new committee attend last night's on line workshop ' Raising funds to sustain your club ' organised by the RFL ?  If not this will have been recorded and I am sure the RFL will let you have a copy if need be.

Contact John Mcmullen and / or Kelly Barrett at the RFL  ( though I am confident they will be aware at least of your general issues) . They have their fingers on the pulse for up to date grants and have significant resource available for all community clubs. They will definitely do what they can for you.

Navigate the Rugby League.com website and get into the Our League Learning Zone . It has loads of support info on it.

Google  'Club Matters.'  They work with Sport England and the RFL. They have lots of advice that could help you.

Approach Featherstone RL Foundation. They should want to help, if only to improve their IMG ratings !

All the best . As always the community game relies on its volunteers and if as it seems you are getting that right with your new committee then brighter days  will soon be back for your great club.

Its a sad state of affairs for sure, there's always the risk with community clubs run by volunteers that willingness and capability isn't always a match

And power, don't forget that.
