We played them in the middle 8's back in 2017 in front of 1800 fans. I just don't have any affiliation with Catalans at all, I very rarely watch their SL games and have very little interest in them. If Fax lower the entry price again then I would probably go. If its full price I will probably swerve if theres any decent amateur games on.

Out of interest if Fax were drawn at home to Wire for example would you go then? Or other Catalan equivalent (top half of the table but not very top class, low chance of upset, no local rivalry)?

Which we usually win! 😀👍

Was strange watching Fev win a game that went to golden point on Sunday to be honest. 🤣

Yeah I had Wire in my second choice of teams with Hull Kr and Leigh. Nice little earner for the club, a chance to renew historical rivalries, very little chance of winning but I feel an affiliation to that game. I would have hated to get Hudds or Salford from a money perspective but would not have minded London at home because there would be a slight chance of an upset which could create an atmosphere.

Thanks for the answer.

Other than away fans (and historical rivalry) I am not too sure of the difference between Warrington and Catalan so just wondered why the ambivalence towards Catalan. I assume you'd be relying on a half price offer to tempt you into going against Salford or Hudds?

I wonder if there was a greater appeal last year with a bit more of a star studded line up. Or less given less chance of an upset!

I grew up watching Halifax V Warrington battles, one of my favorite tries was by John Bentley against Warrington. Ive a lot of memories that are stuck in my head when it comes to Wire so I have that link but with Catalan I have none of that, I don't love them, I don't "hate" them, I'm just meh about them.

Although from a money perspective Salford and Huddersfield were two of the worse ties, I would go and watch both for pretty much the same reasons mentioned above with Warrington. Hudds we have a historical rivalry and half their team usually comes through the Siddal ranks so we have that link and for Salford we have one of my favorite players as their coach so it would be nice to have a catch up with him.

I think its a really tough ask for the club to sell this game and it looks like they are going down the route of offering a lot of free tickets out to community clubs which should put a couple of hundred on the gate.

Why aren’t they showing the match on mainstream TV? No BBC 1 or 2, you will have to search for it, won’t attract any casual or new viewers

BBC coverage is all over the place - days/times and channels. A real mess that pushes us to being more niche than ever on that platform.

Full TV coverage doesn't start until the Quarter Finals now under the new BBC deal.
