Time for a dedicated thread.

Plus here's the BBC pre-empting the same media-whipped "outrage" that has happened every time since 2012: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/cjk3vkpxz1po

Those of us with an accidental Discovery Plus subscription are feeling pretty smug.

I'll be re-activating my sub (for a month) on Friday. Their app interface is awful, but having everything on tap in 2012 has spoilt me.

I think if you're a Sky Sports subscriber then you can get it for free.

Never had Sky.

But I just went of their site to check I still had my login details working, and the Standard sub (which includes the Olympics) is currently reduced to £3.99 a month, down from £6.99.

So I've just renewed straight away, in case it goes up again when the Games begin.

It makes you wonder why(and by whom) the video was released now, when it was filmed 4 years ago.

It makes me wonder how long it will be before the posh woman does a little tear stained recovery video and everyone says how sorry they are for her.

I'm assuming that whatever she did is probably not as bad as this case: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/c2v0j0j6nqlo

All part of the dark and murky world of Dressage!

My money is on Laura Trott, I swear I heard her say "no way you're overtaking my medal record"

And we're off...

Charlotte Dujardin, Britain's joint-most decorated female Olympian, has pulled out of Paris 2024 after a video emerged showing her "making an error of judgement".

Surely it's not just me who isn't shocked at this in the slightest? Surely anyone with a bit of wit would know that getting horses to prance about like they do for dressage is going to involve punishing horses like this.

It involves posh people though so its ignored, unless there is a video like this of course.

Never sure really why football is in the Olympics,  sportsmanship is never an important aspect of the game. Argentina v Morocco starts tournament off to a new low.

  • Morocco beat Argentina 2-1 after dramatic men's football match which takes four hours to reach conclusion

  • Fans appear to throw missiles at players after Argentina's leveller in 16th minute of injury time makes it 2-2

  • Players then taken from field before equaliser ruled out by VAR almost two hours later as play resumes for final three minutes in empty stadium

Are you saying that Morocco won, I saw the players head off after Argentina's late equaliser but I thought the ref had blown for full time so I turned TV off.

Yes, after crowd disturbances crowd asked to leave stadium. VAR then disallowed goal, and players came back out an hour later for last 3 minutes in empty stadium.

Hang on, what?

I said VAR should rule it out but then the match seemed to end?!

Incredible! The main media headlines still say it was 2-2!

I think it's obvious that the commentators were not in the ground because they did not know what was going on.

It also tends to be ignored in all other horsey sports too.

Time to ban them.

Yeah, I can't remember exactly what the comms said but they seemed to think that the match was over.

They definitely said full time had been blown and then the coverage finished. Looking at it now, it's clear the screens in the ground said play is suspended. They didn't even hint at that.
