Didn't see this one coming, but at the end of the day results and performances have been well short this season and lot of this stems from the quality and experienced players that left or retired at the end of last season which we didn't replace and now we are in a situation where we could be relegated from the championship if results and performances stay the same from the first 10 games.Hope Applegarth can sort out the inconsistent form we have seen this season and keep us in the championship for next season. Also what's happening with Hendo's support staff?

good luck to mark , always comes across well but as we all know it's a result based performance that counts.

As has been said, I never saw that coming, it would seem that this is the thing these days, having a director of rugby or whatever you want to call him. I hope Mark Applegarth is the right person to drive us forward, but what about the other members of the coaching team, usually a coach wants his ‘ own men’ around him, I wish  Hendo well in his new role, it is one I think he is particularly suited to. It is good news about the academy, that is something all clubs should be looking at doing. Generally I think the statement by Clint is very positive for the club, like I say I just hope Mark Applegarth is the right fit for this club, it is up to us supporters to get behind him and the players like we always have done.

Hendo was behind the most successfull period in Keighleys recent history in this particular role of director of rugby , recruiting the players for coach Rhys Lovegrove to get them promoted to the champ so he and Mark should make a good team.

What a load of rubbish, performances have been poor because of the list of injuries and people playing out of position, there's been no real continuity of squad week in week out. I thought Kirmo and Clarky looked finished well before the end of last season, only wish Kirmo had stayed on as a coach.

Thought Applegarth did a decent job last year at Wakey once Fordy had gone.

If we are in League 1 next year then so be it will still be there every week cheering the lads on.

All the support staff are staying.

in applegarth we trust!

great to hear we are having an academy. with the community clubs doing so well at present its a terrific time for RL in the city. if we can make a clear pathway to the pro game for the literally hundreds of kids playing RL each week in the city that would be the best outcome for NYRL

Agree with most of that apart from the reference to Kirmo and Clarky being finished well before the end of last season and the dig at Fordy, the guy who helped get us into the Championship. All down to opinions of course.

Think you need to look back to the second half of the season when Hendo moved Clarkson to right centre how solid we looked in defence and if you looked at Clarkson stats in most games he wouldn't be far of being top of the tackle count and if had decided to carry on he would have had no problem getting into the team and staying in the team on current performances.

Has Mark actually done any interviews with the local media and if so where can you find it?.

His first Press Conference at the Knights has just gone on the club website 10 minutes ago. (It's now 530pm.)

A very interesting interview. Mash could stand in this general election the way some of those questions were answered. Read a lot into what wasn’t said as much as what was.

The comment about “the last regime” signing Sam Cooke and not the last head coach says nothing has changed since Fordy coached here. I wish him luck as I fear he will need it

Give the guy a chance , he's only a week in to the position so a lot of answers will be vague because he doesn't know himself yet ,from what he did say i thought the positivity of hendo and the coaching staff was very helpful for him .

talk to him again in a months time then we may see the plans for the future of the club  properly

I wish him lots of luck, in my opinion he'll need it, he's the third coach since Clint took over. In the interview he refers to the injuries and 'dynamics' within the squad, but everybody now has a clean slate.  I interpret that as not everybody is pulling their weight , and not particularly wanting to play for Hendo, or Clint, who in my opinion interferes too much in team selection. I foresee a few injred players making rapid returns sooner rather than later.

I agree with what you say, it was, as someone else has pointed out, what wasn't said as much as what was.

My impression is that Hendo didn't have the full backing of the players, I may be wrong, but that seemed to be the case. It would explain to a degree why we are where we are with the squad we have . I just hope we keep some of the attacking flair that Hingano brings and we don't just concentrate on defence, as much as I agree a strong defence is important and wins you games we, as paying customers, want to be entertained too. I would hate to go back to the five drives and kick that we played under Fordy, towards the end of his tenure it became predictable and boring. I really do hope Mash is the guy for the job.
