I thought we played some good stuff today, although it's hard to know how much to read into it with the level of opposition. Boothroyd, Tuimavave and whoever plays on the wing outside them will end up with a boat load of tries. Akuola looked a very strong impact type and Hatton impressed too. Calum Turner went well at 7 as well.

It was Clay Webb, not Caleb Aekins with the 36th minute try

They're old mates and Aekins passed him the ball instead of touching down

Really enjoyed it today and I thought Waterhead handled themselves with dignity. Appreciate we were playing an amateur team but I do think we have reason to be cautiously optimistic about this year. I liked that we kept the foot on the gas pretty much throughout. You nearly always get a lull in these one sided matches. I nearly managed dry January but succumbed before and during the game!!

A couple of our supporters took the banter too far for me but yeah Waterhead generally ignored it - apart from the full back who got a lot of stick but had the last word with one of their best runs of the game late on

Michael, we always use the men of the match selected by League Express. The reason is that they award a man of the match to each team and also that they are neutral.

We have added the men of the match but still don’t have the attendance. We have also corrected the error in the Caleb Aekins and Clay Webb tries.

I'm no longer doing the match report for League Express, but if I was I would have picked Turner. It's ironic, because I would always check out Colin's thread when I was in two minds for my MOM!

It will be interesting to see who Ford picks in the halves for the next two games as we have the opportunity to use them both as warm ups, even though I don't like being disrespectful to the amateurs. I would like to see Reynolds rested and Turner taking up the kicking tee whilst competing against Lacans and Herring to see who will partner Ben for the Doncaster game.
