TamarBridgeLatic Posted February 27 Posted February 27 BradKnowles1 Posted 2 hours ago 5 million pound grant has been given for development of Little Wembley. From Latics message board, something to do with this?

TamarBridgeLatic Posted February 27 Posted February 27 He's also posted that there's going to be a stand similar to the one at Curzon Ashton being built there. Otherwise, no idea all will eventually be revealed.
wozzeryedhead Posted February 28 Posted February 28 And if the development of lw is right with a five million grant I'll have a quid or two on bq doing it

tub Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Getting our own stadium would be amazing and a "big announcement" !! .... , but we have a lease at BP and the council invested £1m in a new pitch to accomodate both teams ? .... and I can't see what Little Wembley has to do with ORLFC ? ?????????????? 2
jroyales Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Mike Ford said this morning on OCR that the announcement has been put back to the middle of March. 1

If it's a council grant you'd imagine it would benefit both Oldham clubs as the grant for the pitch did, however Im scratching my head as to what both clubs would use Little Wembley for other than a training facility which we don't really need given the upgrades to Melrose. Could it possibly be a small stadium for academy & womens teams? 1

Interesting to see what the actual plans are and more importantly where the extra £65 million comes from. We've seen these dreams before, remember the new rugby stadium where B&Q is now? Fingers crossed
Roughyed Rats Posted March 17 Posted March 17 (edited) Is it me or is our press release as clear as mud? Permanent home? On what basis? Great that the BP site is getting investment (little wembley, the main stadium, cricket pitch?) but not sure why this is exciting for us as renters. Any ideas? Perhaps I just need more coffee. The general press releases states, 'The council is initiating the project with a £5m investment from a recent £20m allocation to the borough through the government's Community Regeneration Fund. It comes after the council's £1m investment into Boundary Park last year for resurfacing works and to create a permanent home for Oldham RLFC'. The pitch investment didn't create a permanent home for the rugby as we signed a 10 year lease. However, Bill's comments today refers to a permanent home as well. I'm confused. Anyone?
wroteforluck87 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I wonder if the little wembley site will be turned in to a smaller stadium for ORLFC to use
wroteforluck87 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 OAFC Instagram post states that more information will be announced at the official launch later today and further up dates in the following weeks
