gazza77
View over the village on New Year's Eve, and the view from our window as I opened the curtains this morning. Nice to see a bit of blue sky! gazza77
I've seen loads of good photos of Gibson Mill in Hardcastle Crags, so I thought I'd have an amble down this afternoon to stretch the legs and see what I could do. Of course it was windy, trying to rain and overcast, but I had a go regardless. One to try again on another day with better conditions. l'angelo mysterioso
Nice one, shame the sky conspired against you. Nature is a barsteward. I disagree dave. I think it would confuse the issue, and vivid skies can be overdone sometimes. This is a delicate picture with loads of information on it. It's a beauty as it is. IMHO less is more sometimes. This is a delicate picture with loads of information on it. It's a beauty as it is. IMHO less is more sometimes. Thanks for all the positive feedback people. My issue with the weather when the photo was taken wasn't so much the sky, more the wind and drizzle that meant the reflection was not as clear as it could have been. Photos of the mill do look good with a vivid sky, however they'd need to be with a wider angle lens than I was using, or be from further away to capture more of it. It's a very popular subject to photograph, so there are lots of photos and paintings of it on display in pubs, cafes, shops, etc. I've plenty to compare against. Well worth a place on the wall. if feasible maybe it would have been good ro fit the reflection of the chimnery in, but that's a personal view WELCOME TO THE ROYSTON VASEY SUPER LEAGUE 2015 Keeping it local

The sky doesn't have to be vivid or dramatic to add to the picture just a bit of detail instead of bland whitenessIf the original was taken in raw it may be possible to squeeze out a bit of detail and shading from the raw image. gazza77
Well the wife went for a ride this afternoon, so I took myself up to Redcar Tarn just outside Keighley for an hour, before heading back to meet her at the in-laws just up the road from home. Today's theme therefore is animals. There are a few more I took in addition to these on my Flickr account. Chris Taylor
Thanks Chris, I try my best. Although I'm a snapper at Featherstone, this past year I've tried to learn more about landscapes, portraits, etc. Here's a few on Flickr. 1. 2. & 3. are from Newmillerdam in Wakefield - Lovely place to relax and an unwind. 4. & 5. Wintersett, Wakefield I really would like to get out more with the camera, so if anybody wants to meet up and do some location photography, get in touch. 2008 RFL Wakefield & District Young Volunteer of the Year

Padge
I've tried to learn more about landscapes, portraits, etc. Keep on eye on those sloping horizons. Also your camera has a fault it keeps putting a light band with distracting text across your pictures. steef
Good stuff Steef, Photo Comp??? Cheers and yeah, I've missed a few months so went out tonight to get something and have a potter around Newquay as I've just moved there. I've posted an entry earlier although a couple of these might end up posted in it too. I'm terrible at deciding such things. Kenilworth Tiger
Hartley Wintney by CarlMitchell, on Flickr Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in. I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.
