BatleyFanAndy
Tough game. Slowed down to play at Hunslet's pace. Thought the Hawks looked very dangerous compared to us for the majority of the game. They won't finish badly this season. Good to see that even when playing badly we can get a win. Thought that ref was shocking. Two occasions awarding penalties for ball stealing when it should've been knock ons, high tackles when shirt grabbing and that short kick off looked too short to me and never looked to pass the line and blow back. RogerT
I seem to remember us trying it in one warm up game and also placing the ball square on, on the tee and thought ey up summat different this year, but last week back to long kick offs, ah well. As somebody said a wins a win, even if ugly. Just look where we are tonight, yes the top. Cheers Roger.

It's a bit of a Grayston specialist thing but he's yet to play a game in the competition. Danny Maun had a cracking game today. Crowd of 901 (I think he said) too. BatleyFanAndy
Maun? I honestly thought he did very, very little. I thought he were really fired up for it and made some good yards and was pretty solid defensively. People sat around me thought so too. silverback
rowie were massive.. great game in bad weather and the lads did the tough work, hunslet need to lose the hard pills and they would get a bit more done, brennon did well and showed what he can do if he feels inclined, ref were shocking along with his touchies, wind made hard work a the kicking today but we could have had 50 if ref aint a given them everything in last 20 minutes. decent crowd. brownie for MOM with rowe in close 2nd. TheTerminator
I've never seen an entertaining game at the SLS, and it certainly wasn't a game for the three quarters to showcase their skills. Hunslet were enthusiastic, but more dangerous than us? Nah. That's why they lost. As for Mauny? He was 'ok'. Nothing more, nothing less, and certainly nowhere near a stand-out IMO. I never said we played badly (Apologies, I did but out of context). And yes we may have nilled them in the second half but it wasn't until into the second half we switched on, but we never took a lead in the first half so the majority of the game, Hunslet were on top/dangerous..........like I said. Regarding Maun, he played better today for Hunslet than he did at the end of his stint at Batley, so IMO he had a good game. Do carry on arguing as you please though. buford t justice
A wins a win but we made blooming hard work of it. The half backs for most of the game were appalling and the kicking game must improve ahead of much tougher opposition in the next 3 games. Top after 2 games is as good a start as we could have wished for, but tons of improvement to make if we are to stay up that end of the table. What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law
9' oller
Wish id of stopped in west Yorkshire as the rabbithos cantered to a comprehensive victory. Alex did good but masoe lms amor all looked pretty ordinary compared with aussie counterparts. Radio leeds had me worried on half time but a win is a win. Fax did well with leigh 'Shaw cross juniors, Birkenshaw, Mirfield, Heckmondwike Panthers, Stainland Stags and then the Heavy woolen donkeys... phildog
just a reminder for whoever mentioned never seeing an entertaining game at SLS, remember the NRC game there which we won 62-12,(and Hunslet were over-rated at 12!!). That was a mucky wet, cold and grey day. The crowd yesterday would be very pleasing from Hawks point of view though.

I still don't think we looked convincing though until the second half. A bit void of things coming from the halves. This is my opinion though and I've been known to be wrong before so never mind.
