Ken Sio over for Rervers, 12-14.

We wait to see who goes for the conversion, it's Ryan Shaw apparently.

Goal misses, still 12-14.

Reece Lyne has try disallowed for double movement.

Can see Rervers nicking this.

Rovers scored three tries to two, Mantellato sorely missed.

12-14 final score.

12-14 final score.

It's difficult to imagine Rovers scoring more tries than the opposition yet still losing when Mantellato's in the team.

I can't imagine he was an expensive signing either, so that was a superb bit of business by HKR.

I think he was playing NSW Cup so he won't have cost a fortune. As well as being a good goal kicker I think he's technically very good. If he had genuine pace he would have been quite a player.

Terrible game played by two terrible teams. It's ok tho, as Chester quoted that it wasn't a 'must win', so all is well in Chester land.

Long, long season is ahead for Rovers. The coaching set up really don't inspire confidence and frankly imo, are way out of their depth. I can't see anyway out for the club but to sign a first class coach and inspire more confidence with the players at his disposal.

To score more tries and lose is just where rovers are at this moment. No game management, no plan 'b', tho I really don't know what plan'a' is. It's a tough time being a robin at the mo.

That it took Blairs sin binning before Rovers showed any sign of life was just unacceptable. We must have had 3 or 4 sets on Wakkefields line in the second half and not to score against what was one of the leagues poorest defences last year is simply not good enough. Once our main players start to come back we will get better but I think it is going to be the bottom four again.

With 3 easy games v Hull we shouldn't worry too much about bottom 4!

As a comment on the game Hicks was awful. A totally ineffective ref with no control of offside at the line and most decisions he gave were after the shout from the crowd or amazingly when the wakefield players stopped and demanded a penalty.

The game lacked energy but the ref needed a rocket....off the list.

Being derbies it wouldn't surprise me if they were a good deal closer than people might otherwise expect.

And on your point about Hicks, I listened to the game and some of his decisions certainly seemed to be made a few moments after the commentators remarked on them but that may of course be due to communication from the touch judge (who was obviously closer to the crowd  B) )

Hicks and Childs really aren't improving.  It's a lottery when either of them are in charge or even sticking their oar in whilst running the touchline.

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.

Rovers made the mistake of not telling Hicks when to give penalties. Wakefield were much quicker on the uptake. The lack of fight between Rovers and the away fans tells all....Hicks is not good enough.

What use are the try line Judges....when Sio was tackled in the air/dropped the ball over the line not only was he 50 yards away but he was not consulted by Hicks. Have they been worth their money?

As for Rovers with a squad of 27 they currently have 7 first choices missing and had 2 returning players on Sunday so perhaps we can hold out hope for the summer games. Missing Captain Campese,Mantellato top try scorer and kicker, hookers Lunt and Boudebeza et al does affect performances.

But we are in Super League so all is not bad.
