Town Army Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Well done to our 3 nominees Brad Holroyd - Young player of the year. Jamie Doran - Player of the year Chris Thorman - Coach of the year.  All thoroughly deserved.
Onreport Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Great recognition of achievement for what is a very young squad, think Fitzy unlucky not to be nominated, he has been awesome this year

townie88 Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Like to think at least one of our nominations are in with a shout of winning. We'll done all 3
The Voodooguru Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Barrow team of the year, Massam won player Murray won coach. What a surprise! The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

You missed out supplying players to other teams so you can have a party too. I'm sure I didn't give the others their correct titles either. Maybe you could correct me on those? The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!
silverfox Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Congratulations to Barrow on there club of the year award .with running a successful ladies team ,and there off field dynamism which led to INCREASED match day attendances. As the report says on the Ourleague app . Pity We couldn't have had increased attendances due to COVID . When we played at Barrow it was like it didn't exist .eating on the terracing walking round the ground with a pint in your hand, over 3000 spectators.  Mind it was nice to get back to normality for a few hours . But we were restricted to a few hundred supporters ,couldn't eat or drink on the terracing .If you wanted a drink you had to sit in a designated area and it was brought to you by waiter service . Area's were in zone's that you couldn't walk in . So it made me laugh just reading that it was mentioned about increased attendances in such difficult times . What a joke !Â
The Voodooguru Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 To be clear before Johnny has another meltdown. I have no axe to grind with barrow winning team of the year & pleased they have been promoted. I am shocked Chris & Brad didn't win an award though. Obviously my view is through tinted glasses and it doesn't necessarily mean that Anthony Murray & the young lad didn't have good seasons. But I thought Brad would be nailed on for young player of they year, the other kid must have been phenomenal. I had no expectation at the beginning of the season with so many young inexperienced lads coming into the team, but to almost win the league and might still be promoted, I struggle to see what more Chris could have done. There are obviously different views out there from the other coaches but I think NW finished roughly within a couple of places where I expected, did they punch that much above their weight? I'm not taking anything away from Murray, and obviously Chris can do no wrong for us, but that's a head scratcher for me. Nevermind the best award would be promotion. UTT The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!
DavidM Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 I really thought Brad would win his award he’s been a consistent stand outÂ

What a joke ! With no restrictions next year due to covid what do you think town should be aiming for as an a average attendance (recognising that this could be dependant on what league they are in)?

UTT It was not a meltdown at all, it was a correction, there is a huge difference between club of the year and team of the year. Actually if there were a team of the year then Workington would probably the favourites to win it due too smaller budget and a rebuild with local or very young travelling players who overacheived expectation and almost took the title. I hope you do actually go all of the way next weekend and you Cumbrians have all three Clubs in the Championship. That would be the best outcome to 2021.Â

Hard to say, I don't think it matters which league we are in, some fans just want to watch a winning team. I would like to see some of the average attendances of most of the championship compared to Barrow and ourselves. Probably only Fev, Widnes, Bradford and Halifax getting more. Personally I just want to watch a better level of RL with us competing in most games.Â
