Knew he was looking to move on next year, but didn't expect him gone immediately.

I was just about to post too Gazza, and I'm equally surprised

Seemingly a fee paid. I can only assume replacement incoming, DR availability assured or some of the injured players are due back.

At the start off the season I'd have said that Brad England looked like a replacement for John Davies, but  his form has dropped, he's dropped too many passes, and given plenty of penalties away. As for lurching from event to event. I think the club see  Zeus Silk as the replacement for England, that's probably why they've decided to let him go now. This week we'll have Addy and Springer back from suspension, to boost the forwards.

I'm out of sync with the general feeling on this as I'm not totally surprised he's been allowed to leave, and if we've got a reasonable fee that's a good bit of business in my view. He tries really hard, is all action and makes the most of what he's got so I get why he's been a popular player but his mental error count, especially penalties conceded, is way too high  - another three on Sunday (one of which got him binned).

We get excited about someone breaking a tackle to make a 15m gain but conceding a penalty and giving the opposition a fresh set plus a 30-40m piggy back downfield is much more significant in terms of the outcomes of games and unfortunately he conceded far too many in my view. When you're aiming to concede no more than half a dozen penalties that means each player needs to be looking at no more than 1 penalty conceded every 3 games.

He's by no means the only player who needs to work on his discipline - there was another player who had an especially bad day in that regard against Halifax - but it did seem to be an issue almost every game with him.

i don’t think theres a coincedence he dipped in form the same time ford decided he was going to use him as an impact middle rather than a backrow. he definitely tries hard probably too hard at times. he did a job for us all best to him

I think its a fair point that England's form dropped after being one of the better players early on (although the same could be said for one or two others) but, even allowing for that, I'm not sure that Silk is a like for like replacement - given that England has been virtually in the 17 each week.  I'm sure that Silk will be seen as more of a fringe player ?

To me he has not been one of our better buys , despite his enterprise . We really needed him to not give so many penalties away.A good bit of business by the club.

Replacing an established championship player with a fringe player is concerning. We are the barest of bones and this cannot be seen as good business. Any more injuries or suspension this will instantly bite us. I'm sure Silk will do a Job when called but to me it's not like for like.

I don't think that Silk is seen as a like-for-like either. I think we're probably having a look at Silk with a view to next season, and we were temporarily very short of middles at the weekend too.

There's a short-term issue of who we play at back row against Doncaster on Saturday with Hardcastle suspended. Day will obviously be one but I think Toby Warren might get a shot at that position. Build-wise he looks more of a back row than a middle at this stage of his career, we've got him on loan for a month and although he's on a long-term contract (until 2026) at Leeds he hasn't played for their first team yet and I wonder if he might become available next year.

England was left out against Whitehaven, presumably because of the number of penalties he conceded, and I doubt he'd have played on Sunday if we hadn't been so badly hit by injuries and suspensions. For me, his positive attributes are more than negated by the fact that he's a penalty machine.

As a postscript to this, England has been suspended for two games following his sin binning on Sunday.

Will no doubt play this weekend and then he will have 2 weeks off for the home games against Midlands and Newcastle.
