Lancashire lad first and foremost, didn't he express when signing for Salford that he was going 'home'?

Wonderful, doesn't make a jot of difference that he is a home grown Leeds Rhinos player.

By Leeds yeah? Was in the academy from being aged 16/17?

Didn't he bale from Leeds because they didn't offer him marquee money ?

In fairness if he is on a 'normal' SL wage then it probably isn't a bad signing in RL terms....he still reads the game well defensively and looks very fit .....just not great 'optics' i think ...same with Hall

OK.🙋‍♂️

Think I'm on your side with this Harry.

Surely the rules wouldn't use the phrase "home grown", so then it goes to common use of the phrase, and I don't see how someone who moves across the country to join an academy at school leaving age would be considered "home grown".

He played his junior rugby in Warrington I believe. Doesn't make this thread any less embarrassing!!

So what is the distance a player has to travel from club to home to make them homegrown then?

Because otherwise, no professional club would have any homegrown players, as they don't usually enter their set ups until teenage years, and are with amateur clubs before then.

By coming through the amateur set ups in their own town and signing for the towns pro club, 100% homegrown.

Time was that London fans were very proud of their 'Home Grown' players and let everyone know it.

We are very proud of our home grown players. We have home grown players that come from the Midlands, much further than Manchester to Leeds.

London's version of "home grown" covers a square mileage of 3x the M62, let alone a town 😂

Tommy, You want to claim Lancashire lads as 'home grown' Leeds players.

Just think about it like Protected Foods that have to come from a certain place to carry the name of origin like Cornish Pasties, Melton Mowbray Pork Pies, Shropshire Cheese etc etc, they can’t be manufactured elsewhwere and still carry the same moniker, get it? it's an origin thing!

Bizarre logic.

Anyway just look up homegrown in any sport, it doesn’t mean what you think it does.

It’s not my argument its how sports classify homegrown players.

What you’re doing is misinterpreting what the word home means in this context, the home is the club not where the player was born

Shropshire cheese?  If you mean Shropshire Blue, it is made in Inverness. Has no link to Salop.

Just saying.
