This is all very noble but Whitehaven aren't and shouldn't be treat like a charity, they're supposed to be a professional club and a business. Fair enough all this "fundraising" for an amateur club that has gone through hard times through no fault of their own, like a fire at the ground for instance, but this is all down to the people that "run" Whitehaven spending & wasting what they haven't got.

What are they doing to ensure this doesn't happen (again) next year (again)?

All i can say is i really hope they learn from it because they ( and any club) can't/ shouldn't expect hand outs . Very admirable by Wakefield but they can't help every club out. What have the people of Whitehaven done to help their towns RL club ?

Very reminiscent gesture to the Rhinos donating all the gate money to Bradford when they were in trouble didn't help as the Bradford management spaffed it up countless times and the Bradford faithful still despise the Rhinos some people just don't deserve charity.
