Joe 90 Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 Really enjoyed this season. it's been a competitive league. (Apart from you guys ) it's a really tough task ahead, but I am sure we all will enjoy the ride. Good Luck next year ! 1
Roughyeds Forever! Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Think Hornets are.now best team in play-offs, but for any team to then beat the team finishing 12th in Champ will be a very tough task.
wozzeryedhead Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 C'mon hornets I want to see you in the championship with us next year another Lancashire team would be great, the way you played towards the end of the season you looked really strong, I'm in Italy at the moment but I'll be watching out for your score, good luck C'mon you can do it
glemiln Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 It appears that today’s game will be in wet conditions. Hopefully, we shall join Oldham but we have considerable hurdles to overcome to do so, including beating the Championship 12th club, away!
The Lad Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Today is going to be a tough test against Hunslet, both teams have been neck and neck throughout the season. However I think we are the better team. Hornets by 8.
glemiln Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 (edited) As I typed, 80mins were up with Hornets 30-18 winners, and both teams in a heck of a “melee”, which I guess was hand bags rather than hand shakes! So, it’s semi-final v Keighley away next weekend; Saturday or Sunday? Win that and we would be in the final 6 October. Lose the semi and it could be Hunslet home again in the prelim final, if they beat Midlands. Well done today. …..However…….hope these will not scupper our chances. Nelmes is red carded and Taulapapa and Flanagan see yellow. Edited September 15, 2024 by glemiln Addition
Excolt 1 Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Fair play to those Oldham fans who came today that’s what rugby league is all about
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 (edited) Quite a close game in constant drizzle, not conditions that were suited to our normal more expansive handling and running game. One up rugby was the order of the day.and Hunslet played it that way. We got off to a terrible start, two mistakes early in the tackle counts led to two Hunslet tries, one converted. We got back in the game then with a good converted try but another mistake allowed Hunslet to score a try in the corner off a short bomb. Once we’d cleared our heads we started play to our normal game and ran in three tries to lead at the break. We were looking comfortable then. Another converted try right after half time put us in the driving seat although Hunslet gave it a go we appeared to have racked our cue with the game next week in mind. Hunslet scored again but we wrapped the game up with a Lewis Else try in the corner. Our normally really reliable kicker in Harman missed 3 kicks, 1 hitting the woodwork. Again it’s hard to pick out a player, everybody contributed at some point. Ben Killan was the sponsors M O M. Lewis Else was a constant threat and scored two tries, Whittel never stopped running. Regarding the melee. The hooter went as Hunslet were throwing ball around trying to get a consolation score and it went to their left winger who was crash tackled into touch. He took exception to that and came up throwing a punch. Most of the two teams then got involved in a lot of “ handbags “. The result was 1 red card and 1 yellow card for Hornets and 1 yellow card for Hunslet. Inexplicablly the referee decide to play on after the hooter had gone and the ball was dead. He gave Hunslet a pen which they just ran into tacklers with. The ref was lucky it didn’t flare up again. Just one of several strange decisions he made. Edited September 15, 2024 by Tyrone Shoelaces
glemiln Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 https://www.totalrl.com/keighley-cougars-tear-up-anthony-murrays-contract-in-shock-coaching-decision/ The link is a bit slower than the surprise decision! “…..interim boss Jake Webster, who is still effectively Keighley’s director of rugby, will take the job on a permanent basis in a shock twist.”
