Lots of rumours flying about, for instance ....

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

I started it, it's my fault (whatever it is). BUT if it's the one I've heard from a couple of fans from a certain club we won't be playing in 2025....

Posted

A couple from Dewsbury, one from Sheffield, potentially 2 from Swinton (dependant on how their relegation play off game goes) and a flow of DR/loanees from Wakey.

Positionally, We need a hooker, halfback, backrower, centre, winger.

 11 teams scrim! 2 or 3 down, 1 or 2 up.

Player-wise; more creative half/halves, strong running, pacey centre, youth in the forwards (can't understand why we didn't bring Rhodes back, big unit, Giants'll probably take him back and send him somewhere he'll get picked). Let BenK and Blakey enjoy retirement. Why a hooker, Leaky will be fit and Moore, anyone else will find themselves in the same place as Oli, who's now walked. Let the Gibbons' and Johnson go, we can easily free up 6 or 7 places and money. Interested to find out who it might be from Eagles, from Swinton Brogan or Bennion would be good or maybe Hatton at centre. Big 2nd rower from Haven? I think we've all heard the same rumour about 1 Ram. Agree with the comment about needing to be stronger or it being our swansong in the championship.

I hear that your favourite fanboy is about to return. He won't come cheap though.

Brogan has ben full time at Leigh this year and has another year on that contract, think he played 2 games on loan with us this year, Bennion is off to Widnes and Hatton to Featherstone

I’ll take a guess at the favourite fan boy being Luke Hooley. But it is purely a guess on my behalf.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a winger joined from The Rams to replace Dale Morton. He is on the list to leave. Cheap and cheerful sort of signing.

As far as I know he has a 2 year contract at Cas with whatever attendant difficulties that brings. That then has further knock-on effects to players who have re-signed.

Superstud, that's the signing I understood! Was hoping for some from say Bradford etc who must be off-loading.

Centre for centre swap then with Mr senior going the other way . Decent signing for league 1 I would imagine along with a certain Mr butterworth . So that’s your fullback and centre sorted . Are you sure there’s only 2 from you lot and not 3 😝. As for Hooley it’s not all about money with him most definitely let’s hope you are right !

Like I say just my guess re fan boy! Really don’t know what is going to happen at Castleford. Will Linners be at the helm. Who knows? Tex Hoy appears to have the full back slot and without being disrespectful to Luke he does not appear to be a centre. So if he comes to you maybe him at full back and Butterworth as back up full back/half back.

I don’t know if you saw it but someone on the Castleford forum suggested that Chris Chester was coming to Castleford as the director of rugby. The current incumbent Danny Wilson is supposed to be moving into the managing director role succeeding Mark Gratton.

As I understand it a certain Mr. Butterworth has signed a new contract and shouldn't be messed around further. BTW he is actually a stand-off, swap Whitey to 7 or 13. I've been a real advocate for Woods but I don't think he or the team have progressed in the 2 years.
