Has anyone else noticed that embedding link, such as Twitter, doesn't work anymore on this site?

It used to always work fine for me but presumably something on the site has changed or a plugin needs updating.

Try changing the "x" bit to "twitter"

Possibly need to do it in the address bar or a notepad,  rather than when you post it on here.

I'm guessing this sites protocols/rules wonto recognise X.

This is a very recent issue, like the last 3 days or so. It worked with X for ages before this. It also still does it if you do as you say.

Seems also to be a bit hit and miss, sometimes working, sometimes not.

Yes, that has happened to me.  When embedding a tweet, sometimes it works and sometimes it says there is no tweet at the url.... yet when I paste it into another browser window, it is fine.

I blame Musk. Or his mum, one of the two.

We haven't changed anything at our end and there are no outstanding software updates.

The site is almost unreadable at the moment.

When people share links i just see huge blank sections in posts. And that's after I've had to click the tiny crosses to close down the adverts.

Thanks. Not sure what it is then because the no tweet at the url message only started to happen a few days ago even though the link is valid and correct. It's also the same error message on different types of browsers i.e Chrome and duckduckgo, and on both an android mobile and mac.

Same here,  it's not device or browser specific.

Yes, that's exactly what happens to me.

Where embedded links had previously been added is now just a blank space in my browser so something definitely appears broken

I'll assume it's twitter's fault rather than anything being run by competent people.

Muppet Musk will have had something changed on a whim, possibly due to someone pointing out just how pathetic he is.

While we are having a bit of a user experience discussion.

On my device, when an ad pops up (which I understand is part of the commercial world of websites), and I close it, it scrolls the screen back up to the top of the page.  That is annoying.

@John Drake

Any chance this bug can be looked at - being halfway down a page when an ad pops up and when you close the ad it scrolls you back up to the top of the page.

Even worse is when you are in the middle of typing a reply and the ad comes, you close it down and then it scrolls you up and then you have to go back to the reply box at the bottom to retrieve the draft of your post.

It's not a good user experience and very frustrating.
